Software Engineer - Java

You will report to the Product Engineering Team Lead working hybrid-onsite through our New York City headquarters.

We are hiring for the following product team(s):

Growth Backend: This group advances all backend projects within the Growth organization. In this versatile, ownership-driven role, you'll split your time between the maintenance and enhancement of our existing Java backend infrastructure and partnering with product teams to create backend features for new initiatives. You'll also be an integral part of discussions with the Conversion, Activation, and Frontsite groups as we shape the future of backend systems in Growth.

You'll Get To…

  • Write server-side code, create high-volume production applications, and develop prototypes quickly.
  • Collaborate with other engineers and designers to provide intuitive customer-focused experiences.
  • Ensure the reliability of systems essential to Squarespace users and businesses powered by Squarespace.

Who We're Looking For

  • 4+ years of development experience in Java, Python, Go or another Object-oriented language. Experience developing large-scale software.
  • A solid foundation in computer science, with competencies in data structures, algorithms, and software design practices.
  • A sincere commitment to creating readable code and an understanding of database schema design, caching and scalability.
  • A degree in Computer Science or related or equivalent industry experience.

Cash Compensation Range: $110,500 - $178,250 USD

The base salary for this position will vary based on job-related criteria including relevant skills, experience, and location, among other factors.

In addition to the cash compensation above (which includes base salary and, where applicable for eligible roles, may include on-target commissions or overtime pay), Squarespace employees are eligible to receive an incentive award as part of their total compensation.
