Global Employee Relations Specialist

New York City

Squarespace is seeking an experienced Global Employee Relations Specialist to support the People team in fostering a positive workplace. This role will be responsible for investigating and resolving employee concerns, ensuring compliance with global labor laws, and guiding HRBPs on employee relations best practices. As our in-house expert, you will develop and refine processes, templates and tools to enhance our approach to employee relations, enabling quick and effective responses to workplace issues. You will also play a key role in refining our operating model to ensure the right teams and partners are engaged at the right time as we manage basic and complex cases.

You will report to the Head of People Operations. This is a hybrid role that will require 3 days per week in our NY office.

Investigations & Case Management

  • Lead and conduct thorough investigations into complaints regarding harassment, discrimination, misconduct, and policy violations, gathering evidence, interviewing witnesses, and preparing detailed reports with recommended actions.
  • Develop and implement logical, structured ER processes that are easily understood and applied across key stakeholders, managers and employees.
  • Partner with HRBPs, Benefits, Employment Counsel, Managers and employees to determine the best approach for each case, ensuring consistency and compliance.
  • Establish and maintain a robust case management system to track cases, identify trends, and provide data-driven insights to People leadership for informed decision-making.
  • Ensure consistent application of company policies and labor laws across multiple regions, collaborating with legal teams to address region-specific compliance requirements.

Employee Relations Strategy & Advisory

  • Serve as an advisor to HRBPs, managers and leaders on complex employee relations matters, offering direction on best practices.
  • Partner with HRBPs and leadership to enhance conflict resolution strategies, performance management, and employee engagement efforts.

Training & Policy Enforcement

  • Develop and deliver training programs for HRBPs, Managers, and employees on workplace conduct, anti-harassment policies, conflict resolution and performance management.
  • Advise and educate managers on the interpretation and application of global employee procedures and policies, ensuring consistent application, enforcement and legal requirements.
  • Provide ongoing coaching and education to HRBPs and managers on employee relations process, tools, and templates to ensure consistency in approach to enhance awareness and capability.
  • Support change management efforts and ad hoc projects and initiatives as needed.

Global Compliance & Risk Management

  • Stay current on federal, state, and international employment laws, ensuring compliance with evolving regulations and best practices.
  • Analyze employee relations trends, identify risks, and recommend proactive solutions to foster a positive and inclusive workplace.
  • Identify opportunities to enhance ER frameworks, policies, and tools to support a positive and productive workplace.

Who We're Looking For

  • 8+ years of Employee Relations experience conducting investigations with at least 3 years in a global or multinational setting.
  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business or related field.
  • Proven ability to conduct complex workplace investigations with confidentiality, objectivity and professionalism.
  • Deep knowledge of global and local employment laws, including, FMLA, ADA, EEO, and other compliance regulations.
  • Strong understanding of HR best practices, risk mitigation strategies, and policy development.
  • Experience managing a broad range of workplace issues across multiple business lines and stakeholder levels.
  • Significant experience as a trusted cross-functional partner, handling sensitive information in a confidential manner and exercising professionalism and discretion in a fast-paced, and agile environment.
  • Ability to analyze data, identify trends, and provide insights to drive ER strategy and decision making.
  • High emotional intelligence and cultural awareness to navigate global employee relations matters effectively.
  • Thorough understanding and application of internal and external HR principles, concepts, practices and standards
  • Demonstrated ability to drive large-scale projects, improve processes, and implement scalable, practical solutions. and cross-functional alignment, simplifying complex issues, and designing and operationalizing scalable, practical solutions.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, conflict resolution, and problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrated record of identifying operational gaps, improving major processes and driving company policy and practices
  • Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and adapt in a fast-paced, agile environment.
  • Willingness to travel as needed for meetings, team events, and in-person collaboration with client groups.
  • Prior HR/ER experience in a global technology start-up is a plus.

Cash Compensation Range: $126,500 - $190,000 USD

The base salary for this position will vary based on job-related criteria including relevant skills, experience, and location, among other factors.

In addition to the cash compensation above (which includes base salary and, where applicable for eligible roles, may include on-target commissions or overtime pay), Squarespace employees are eligible to receive an incentive award as part of their total compensation.
