About the role

We’re looking for a Data Scientist to join our growing data team and help transform raw, messy datasets into structured, useful data products that drive both internal insights and customer-facing features.

You’ll work closely with data engineers, product managers, and other stakeholders to improve the quality, consistency, and usability of our data—primarily in our warehouse (BigQuery). You’ll help design and implement data cleaning and transformation pipelines, define canonical datasets, and explore creative approaches to scaling how we prepare and deliver insights.

This is a great role for someone who enjoys working across messy real-world data, is comfortable collaborating cross-functionally, and wants to see their work show up directly in product and in thought leadership.

Why this job is exciting
  • Design and implement processes for cleaning, transforming, and enriching structured data in BigQuery.
  • Create and maintain curated datasets that power dashboards, analytics, and in-product experiences.
  • Partner with domain experts, engineers, analysts, and product managers to understand data needs and shape solutions that work at scale.
  • Apply statistical, rules-based, or ML-driven methods to improve data quality and automate transformation where possible.
  • Build new product features that leverage our data, such as recommendations models and data insights
  • Identify and address inconsistencies, ambiguities, and edge cases in compensation and HR datasets.
  • Contribute to internal data standards, documentation, and data catalog efforts.
  • Support downstream product and integration work by ensuring data is reliable and well-defined.

About you
  • Experience in data science, analytics engineering, or a related field, preference for production environments
  • Strong proficiency in SQL and Python, particularly for data wrangling and transformation.
  • Experience working with large, complex datasets in a modern data warehouse (BigQuery a strong plus).
  • Comfortable exploring imperfect data, identifying anomalies, and proposing solutions.
  • Skilled at collaborating with both technical and non-technical partners to shape data solutions.
  • Curious and creative—you’re excited to try new approaches to make data more useful.
  • Familiarity with compensation or HR data is a plus
  • Interest in supporting future use cases in product integrations or AI-enhanced data workflows.

Why you'll love it here:
  • Check out our Employee Experience page for more information on our Mission & Values, Work-Life Balance, Pay Transparency, Diversity, Culture, and Benefits.
  • Work with cutting-edge AI tools, like Cursor, Google AI studio, Github Copilot, Gemini, and ChatGPT Enterprise. We regularly evaluate new tools on the market and integrate them into our stack. We also offer support for training and time for learning new tools and building AI skills.
  • 💰 Competitive Compensation. For this role our salary is targeted at $133,000 -$156,000 USD per year, if hired in Calgary: $125,800-146,000 CAN. Final offer amounts are determined by factors such as experience and expertise. We take a geo neutral approach to compensation within the US, meaning that we pay based on job function and level, not location.
  • 🏆  Syndio Equity. So you can share in Syndio’s success.
  • 🏝  Flexible Vacation Policy. We encourage our team to recharge when they need to, plus paid sick & safe time, compassion leave, and voting leave.
  • :hatching_chick: 16 weeks of paid parental leave
  • 🩺  Medical, Dental, Vision. Syndio pays 90% of employee premiums, and 50% for dependents.

Form CC-305
OMB Control Number 1250-0005
Expires 04/30/2026

Why are you being asked to complete this form?

We are a federal contractor or subcontractor. The law requires us to provide equal employment opportunity to qualified people with disabilities. We have a goal of having at least 7% of our workers as people with disabilities. The law says we must measure our progress towards this goal. To do this, we must ask applicants and employees if they have a disability or have ever had one. People can become disabled, so we need to ask this question at least every five years.

Completing this form is voluntary, and we hope that you will choose to do so. Your answer is confidential. No one who makes hiring decisions will see it. Your decision to complete the form and your answer will not harm you in any way. If you want to learn more about the law or this form, visit the U.S. Department of Labor’s Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP) website at www.dol.gov/ofccp.
