About the role

We are looking for an experienced data warehouse developer who is excited to take on and solve data challenges at a fast-paced startup. You’ll be responsible for expanding and optimizing our data architecture, as well as optimizing data flow and collection for cross-functional teams. You will model data from various sources across the company to build a unified foundation that supports our R&D, reporting, and analytics needs. Not only that, but you will contribute heavily to the evolution of Syndio’s next-generation data platform, empowering our people and our ever-expanding set of products.

  • Participate in building the infrastructure required for optimal extraction, transformation, and loading of data from a wide variety of data sources.
  • Work with data scientists and product managers to design and deliver high-quality, usable data that fulfill R&D, product, operational and reporting needs throughout the company.
  • Assist other developers in determining and implementing best practices for data management and data hygiene.
  • Participate in architecture design and discussions.
  • Provide logical and physical data design, and database modeling.
  • Solve complex data issues around data integration, unusable data elements, unstructured data sets, and other data processing incidents.

Basic Requirements

  • Experience with data architecture and a strong background in data warehousing, pipeline development, and delivering high-quality, scalable data products.
  • Proficient in modern data transformation tools (e.g., dbt, SQLMesh, Dataform) with advanced SQL skills, including expertise in relational database design and data modeling.
  • Strong understanding of data governance, privacy, and international data regulations (e.g., GDPR, CCPA).
  • Experience working with BigQuery or other data warehouses, and managing data workflows using orchestration tools like Airflow, Prefect, or Dagster.

  • 💰   Competitive Compensation. For this role our base salary is targeted at $140-160k CAD. Final offer amounts are determined by factors such as experience and expertise.

Role Progression

  • 30 Days - You will familiarize yourself with the data environment, meet internal stakeholders, and learn the tools and processes.
  • 60 Days - You will have begun developing data models and enhancing our pipelines by introducing best practices drawn from your experience, while collaborating closely with cross-functional teams to validate your work.
  • 90 Days - You will be leading end-to-end pipeline development and delivering data models used to impact internal decision-making.

  2. 45 min Zoom interview with the Hiring Manager
  3. Take-home assignment
  4. Technical Deep-Dive - 60 min
  5. 2-3 video interviews with cross-functional team members - 30-45 min each
