Release Engineering Intern (Part-Time, 80%, One-year temporary position)

Tel Aviv, Israel

Realize your potential by joining the leading performance-driven advertising company!

As a Release Engineering Intern in our Tel Aviv office, you'll help improve the systems that build, test and release software across Taboola. The group is moving the R&D to an agent-ready CI/CD platform, aiming for up to 10x faster delivery with less manual build, test and release work. You'll also work on our internal AI app-building platform, which lets employees create and deploy applications from natural-language prompts (Base44 style). The team supports 600+ R&D engineers, around 1,300+ modules and 500+ service types across Java, JavaScript/TypeScript, Python and Go.

To thrive in this role, you'll need:

  • Currently pursuing a B.Sc. in Computer Science, Software Engineering or a related technical field
  • Strong programming fundamentals and hands-on experience with at least one language such as Java, JavaScript or Python
  • Comfortable working in a Linux environment and using git
  • Basic understanding of software builds, automated testing and CI/CD, with familiarity with tools such as Jenkins, Artifactory, Bitbucket/GitHub, Bazel, Gradle or Maven
  • Familiarity with Docker, Kubernetes, Helm or infrastructure/configuration automation
  • Ability to troubleshoot technical issues and automate repetitive work
  • Experience using AI coding agents at scale for development work, with exercising judgment, providing clear context and acceptance criteria, verify their output, protect sensitive data and own the final contributions.
  • Basic familiarity with LLM APIs, agent skills, plugins or tools integrations, plus an understanding of how context limits and token usage affect quality, latency and cost
  • Passion for simplifying developer workflows, automating repetitive processes and solving challenging infrastructure problems at scale

Bonus points if you have:

  • Experience building or maintaining shared CI/CD pipelines used by many developers, services or teams
  • Hands-on work with production infrastructure, release engineering, DevOps or developer tooling in a company, technology unit or active open-source project

How you'll make an impact:

  • Improve automation for continuous integration, testing, packaging and releases
  • Join one of R&D's biggest build modernization efforts: moving hundreds of modules from Maven to Bazel to make development and delivery much faster
  • Build reusable pipeline libraries, self-service and automation tools for both human engineers and coding agents across R&D
  • Use CI/CD metrics to identify slow builds, high-cost workflows and recurring bottlenecks, then help fixing them
  • Troubleshoot failures in builds, jenkins agents, artifacts and containers, then automate fixes for problems that keep returning
  • Add tests, monitoring and documentation that keep release workflows dependable and easy to use
