Senior Developer(Remote- US Based)

Rec & Leisure

Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and proactive Senior Developer to join our remote team, with a primary focus on SQL/database development alongside full-stack and back-end responsibilities. The ideal candidate will bring deep expertise in SQL (with an emphasis on T-SQL and database optimization), as well as hands-on experience in both Linux and Windows environments. While legacy system support (including ColdFusion) is valuable, our core need is for someone who can drive SQL-heavy initiatives while supporting the broader software development lifecycle.

This is a remote, U.S.-based position, preferably located in the Eastern time zone, collaborating within an Agile team to support sprint work, new feature delivery, and modernization projects.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the team’s database and SQL subject matter expert, leading the design, optimization, and maintenance of stored procedures, queries, and overall database architecture (SQL-related work comprises approximately 60% of the role).

  • Lead and contribute to the development, testing, and deployment of scalable web applications and new features.

  • Support both Linux and Windows-based development and production environments.

  • Collaborate closely with the Product Development Manager to align work with product roadmaps (approx. 60% SQL/database, 20% development support, 20% ceremonies/meetings).

  • Provide mentorship and technical guidance to junior developers; act as an SME across the stack.

  • Collaborate with QA, support, and product teams to triage and resolve issues efficiently.

  • Participate in peer code reviews and actively contribute to the team’s technical knowledge base.

  • Support legacy applications (e.g., ColdFusion) while assisting with modernization efforts.

  • Contribute to DevOps practices, including setup and maintenance of local development environments, GitLab CI/CD pipelines, AWS services, and Docker containers.

  • Participate in Agile ceremonies and help improve team processes and coding standards.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of professional software development experience.

  • Advanced experience in SQL/T-SQL, with demonstrated expertise in database optimization, stored procedure design, and large-scale database management.

  • Strong experience in both Linux and Windows environments.

  • 5 years of experience with PHP.

  • 2–3 years of experience with .NET & C#.

  • Proficiency in JavaScript, AJAX, JQuery, and experience with UI development is a plus.

  • Experience with SQL Server, stored procedures, and overall database design.

  • Experience with Git/GitLab, CI/CD, AWS, Docker, and monolithic systems.

  • Familiarity with REST/SOAP APIs, IIS/Apache web servers, and security best practices (PCI, SOC, OWASP).

  • Exposure to ColdFusion is a plus, but not required—willingness to learn and support legacy applications is important.

  • Comfortable working in Agile/Scrum environments.

Other Skills & Attributes

  • High standards of work ethic, detail orientation, and accountability.

  • Strong time management and prioritization skills.

  • Ability to independently drive work, mentor peers, and contribute to team success.

As a government contractor subject to the Vietnam Era Veterans Readjustment Assistance Act (VEVRAA), we request this information in order to measure the effectiveness of the outreach and positive recruitment efforts we undertake pursuant to VEVRAA. Classification of protected categories is as follows:

A "disabled veteran" is one of the following: a veteran of the U.S. military, ground, naval or air service who is entitled to compensation (or who but for the receipt of military retired pay would be entitled to compensation) under laws administered by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs; or a person who was discharged or released from active duty because of a service-connected disability.

Form CC-305
OMB Control Number 1250-0005
Expires 04/30/2026

Why are you being asked to complete this form?

We are a federal contractor or subcontractor. The law requires us to provide equal employment opportunity to qualified people with disabilities. We have a goal of having at least 7% of our workers as people with disabilities. The law says we must measure our progress towards this goal. To do this, we must ask applicants and employees if they have a disability or have ever had one. People can become disabled, so we need to ask this question at least every five years.

Completing this form is voluntary, and we hope that you will choose to do so. Your answer is confidential. No one who makes hiring decisions will see it. Your decision to complete the form and your answer will not harm you in any way. If you want to learn more about the law or this form, visit the U.S. Department of Labor’s Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP) website at www.dol.gov/ofccp.
