Team & Position Summary

We are looking for a proactive, strategic, and operationally expert Head of People Operations to join our fast-growing Series B tech startup. The ideal candidate has a background in high-growth startups or consulting and thrives in environments where they must manage dozens of workflows simultaneously across HR operations. This role will own HR systems, benefits, and reporting and is critical in building and scaling our people processes, ensuring an outstanding employee experience, maintaining data hygiene, and driving compliance with tax and employment laws across multiple geographies. To be clear, we have HR Business Partners and People programs this role will lead HR Operations which consists of systems, benefits, and reporting. 

You will work closely with leadership to develop systems and cycles that support the full employee lifecycle—including onboarding, benefits, performance reviews, HR metrics reporting, and compliance—all while keeping efficiency and scalability top of mind. The impact you will have:
  • Design, implement, and optimize scalable HR systems that support our rapidly growing team.
  • Manage and improve HR workflows across onboarding, benefits administration, payroll, compliance, tax and employment laws, and performance cycle reviews.
  • Own reporting and data hygiene to ensure accurate workforce insights and compliance.
  • Drive HR process automation and efficiency improvements to enhance employee experience and streamline operations.
  • Leverage analytics to drive workforce planning, compensation strategy, and HR decision-making.
  • Partner with leadership and key stakeholders to align people operations with business goals.
  • Own and optimize HR technology and HRIS platforms, ensuring effective data management and reporting.
  • Act as a trusted advisor on HR policies, compensation structures, employment regulations, and best practices.

What we’re looking for:

  • HR Operations Expertise: 5-12 years of experience in People Operations, HR analytics, or a similar role, ideally in a high-growth startup or consulting environment.
    • Note- if you have NO experience in HR, but have a consulting background and are excellent at overseeing & reporting on highly complex work streams, we believe we can teach you the HR side. What's most important to us is the master of the reporting and organization skills.
  • Systems & Data-Driven Mindset: Deep experience managing HRIS platforms, HR reporting, and data-driven workforce decisions.
    • Note- again, if you have no experience in HR, but a background managing supply chains or highly complex work streams, we are happy to teach you the HR domain.
  • Process Optimization: Proven ability to create, refine, and scale HR processes while managing 10-40 workflows simultaneously.
  • Compliance & Risk Management: Knowledge of tax laws, employment regulations, benefits administration, and compliance requirements across multiple jurisdictions (nice to have, not have to have)
  • Startup Mentality: Comfortable in a very fast-paced, dynamic environment with the ability to context switch, problem-solve, and adapt quickly.
  • Communication & Leadership: Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to influence and collaborate across all levels of the organization.
Preferred: MBA or equivalent advanced degree.
 

About the Team:

Our HR Operations team is a blend of junior and senior professionals spread across the US and Latin America This mix of experience and perspectives fosters collaboration and learning, making it a dynamic and enriching environment to work in. 

We value communication and alignment, which is why we prioritize structured collaboration. The team connects through daily standups to ensure everyone is on the same page, bi-weekly meetings with the broader People team, and monthly alignment sessions involving HR and Talent. Between meetings, we rely on thorough documentation, Slack, and email to keep things moving efficiently and transparently.

Describe the operating rhythms of this team 

  • As a globally distributed team, members may observe different timezones. However, most of the team will overlap between the hours of 7am-12pm PST Monday-Friday for meetings and collaboration. 
  • All team members, regardless of location must have at least 4 hours overlap with PST business hours. 
  • About 2 - 3 times a year it so happens we are all out on the same day for a holiday! At that time we designate 1 person to be ‘on-call’ and monitor Slack and email just in case of an HR emergency that needs to be addressed the same day. We all rotate so everyone can expect to be ‘on call’ about once a year.

Learn about TRM Speed in this position:

  • The first week after onboarding, we will ask that you review all our Asana work flows, and produce 3 options for how you’d like to reorganize the work streams for the highest efficiency and ability to report upwards tracking.
  • We will ask you to drive AI adoption across your team in the first quarter, researching/teaching/implementing solutions that scale manual or bandwidth work.
  • We will ask you to drive a refresh of our onboarding within two quarters, including an audit of where our biggest gaps are, where we should invest further and what ROI we’d anticipate that would have on new hires, how we’d measure success, and then drive the creation of that redone onboarding system.
