Senior Analyst, Fraud and AML

Detroit, Michigan, United States, New York, New York, United States, Remote(EST), Remote, San Francisco, California, United States, Washington, District of Columbia, United States

ABOUT ROCKET MONEY đź”®

Rocket Money’s mission is to meaningfully improve people’s financial prosperity. We’ve helped millions of people save money, and now we’re focused on helping them grow their money through personalized, automated financial products.

As we scale our member base and product portfolio, fraud and anti-money laundering (AML) risk are among our most consequential problems to solve. We’re looking for an experienced, hands-on analyst to work that risk day to day and help make our controls sharper.

ABOUT THE ROLE 🤹‍♀️

The Senior Analyst, Fraud and AML is the hands-on center of our day-to-day fraud and AML work. You’ll triage and work our alert and case queues, investigate the more complex cases, and turn what you see into specific improvements to our rules and processes.
Strong fraud triage experience is at the heart of this role. You’ll know quickly what needs attention now, what can wait, and what is simply noise, and you’ll document every decision so it holds up to review.

Fraud and money laundering risk often show up in the same accounts and the same money movements, so you’ll work both sides. You’ll also be a trusted backup to the Senior Manager on Suspicious Activity Report (SAR) referrals and bank partner escalations.
You’ll join a program that already has dedicated leadership and a clear direction, and you’ll help turn that direction into daily practice. You’ll report to the Senior Manager, Fraud and AML, and work closely with product, engineering, operations, and data colleagues, as well as our banking and brokerage partners.

If you’ve triaged fraud alerts and worked first-line fraud and AML cases, enjoy spotting patterns that lead to better controls, and want to help run fraud and AML for financial products that impact millions of people, this role is for you.

WHAT YOU'LL DO 🛠️

Triage and work the queues 🛡️

  • Triage incoming fraud and AML alerts quickly and accurately, separating real risk from noise and prioritizing by member impact and potential loss
  • Own the day-to-day health of our alert and case queues: timeliness, quality, and clear, well-documented dispositions
  • Work alerts and cases across fraud and AML, including account takeover, first-party and ACH abuse, money mule activity, and business use of consumer accounts
  • Track turnaround targets (SLAs) and run quality checks on case decisions, so decisions stay consistent, timely, and defensible

Investigate and escalate 🕵️

  • Investigate complex, multi-account cases from first signal to a documented, defensible decision
  • Prepare SAR referrals and supporting case documentation, meeting our bank partner timelines
  • Escalate to and coordinate with bank and brokerage partners when a case requires it, and serve as backup to the Senior Manager on partner escalations
  • Support incident response by helping trace root cause and documenting what changed and why

Measure and improve controls 📊

  • Review how our rules and controls perform: alert precision, time to decision, false positives, and loss outcomes
  • Turn patterns you see in cases into specific tuning proposals, and follow remediation through to completion
  • Flag emerging fraud and AML patterns early, before they become losses or compliance findings
  • Feed disposition and data quality findings back into our rules, routing, and the vendor tools we rely on

Support the AML program 🧭

  • Support day-to-day Bank Secrecy Act (BSA) and AML compliance, including case documentation, training, and testing evidence
  • Help the Senior Manager prepare for independent testing and bank partner audits by keeping records complete, consistent, and easy to retrieve
  • Contribute to procedures and incident write-ups that are clear, concise, and practical

Partner across the business 🤝

  • Work with product, engineering, operations, and data colleagues to improve controls and align on shared metrics and definitions
  • Share what you’re seeing with the Senior Manager regularly, including emerging patterns, queue health, and control performance
  • Explain findings and trade-offs between loss prevention and member experience in plain language

WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE đź’«

In your first 90 days:

  • You understand our products, members, partners, and fraud and AML workflows
  • You own the alert and case queues and keep them moving within SLA
  • You’re triaging with confidence, working investigations independently, and preparing SAR referrals with little rework
  • You’ve put forward your first tuning and process improvement recommendations

Within your first year:

  • Queue health, quality checks, and SLA reporting are consistent and trusted by leadership
  • Your tuning and remediation work has measurably improved alert quality and reduced manual effort
  • Case files are audit-ready and have held up in partner and independent reviews
  • You’re a go-to expert on how we triage, investigate, and respond to fraud and money laundering

ABOUT YOU 🦄

  • 4+ years of experience in fraud operations with AML compliance for deposit and/or brokerage products (ideally both) at a fintech
  • Hands-on experience in fraud triage — you can quickly assess an alert, separate real risk from noise, prioritize what matters most, and make clear, well-documented decisions under time pressure
  • Strong analytical skills — you spot patterns in data and back your decisions with evidence, not just intuition
  • Exceptional communicator — both written and verbal communication, including case documentation that stands up to audit
  • A collaborative, curious mindset, and energy for working in a fast-moving environment where our program is evolving

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS 🎯

  • Industry certifications such as CAFS, CAMS, CFCS, or CFE
  • Experience tuning rules, scenarios, or models, or working with case management and alerting tools
  • Experience supporting independent testing, regulatory exams, or partner audits
  • Deep familiarity with US regulatory landscape and fraud typologies
  • Bachelor’s degree in business, statistics, STEM, economics, criminal justice, or a related field, or equivalent experience
