Client Solutions Engineer Lead

Verition Fund Management LLC (“Verition”) is a multi-strategy, multi-manager hedge fund founded in 2008.  Verition focuses on global investment strategies including Global Credit, Global Convertible, Volatility & Capital Structure Arbitrage, Event-Driven Investing, Equity Long/Short & Capital Markets Trading, and Global Quantitative Trading.

We are seeking an experienced client service-oriented engineer to join our team. The focus of this role will be to support Portfolio Managers who require help with their infrastructure, access to systems/drives/data, coordination on dataset requests and starter code for utilizing services in the cloud like AWS S3. This role will require experience and an understanding of infrastructure on prem and in the cloud to help accelerate PM business setups and trouble shooting. This engineer will work directly with PMs and Analysts to facilitate their technical needs and technical issue resolution. Our client service engineers will act as a white glove or concierge service to our PMs to ensure orderly issue resolution and ensure an efficient time to market for new setups. In addition to our Portfolio teams, this role will coordinate with multiple Technology teams and require the engineer to learn our firm’s best practices. This role will also coordinate with our PM services team to ensure PM technical issues are resolved.

Responsibilities:

• Client Management: Ability to speak with Portfolio Managers, Analysts, Technology and Operations teams to align priorities, issue management and delivery
• Data Platform Experience: Understanding of data access controls, storage, private vs public data sets and permissions for a Data Platform
• DevOps Tools: Experience with Cloud Dev Ops tools a plus to enable processing and environment setups for individual PM teams (Kerberos, Kubernetes, Git, Jenkins, etc.)
• Infrastructure Knowledge: Understanding cloud (AWS primary, GCP, Azure a plus) and on premises infrastructure offerings, capabilities, standards and enabling users to set up quickly in concert with core Infrastructure teams
• Engagement with Supporting Functions: Will need to coordinate with Data Engineering, Data Ops, Support, Infrastructure and PM services functions to align protocols and processes

Required Skills & Qualifications

• 5-10 years of experience in a similar role
• Experience working with Portfolio Managers and Analysts on technical issues and setups
• Financial services experience necessary/Buy side Multi Strat or Hedge Fund Preferred
• AWS cloud infra/dev ops expertise (services like S3, lambda, Cron, event bridge, etc. and operational experience in the cloud for container management, Kubernetes, etc.)
• GPC/Azure cloud experience helpful as smaller implementations there as well
• On-prem and cloud infra experience (Linux, OS understanding, Compute, Cloud Services)
• Python & SQL expertise
• Data platform & Pipeline architecture understanding a plus
• Strong problem-solving and analytical mindset.
• Excellent communication skills to work with stakeholders across technology, investment, and operations teams.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines.
