About the Role:
Wing is looking for an Instructor, Flight Operations to join our Flight Standards and Instruction team based in Dallas, TX. As a Wing Instructor, you are responsible for execution of Wing’s flight operations training programs under Wing’s Part 135 commercial drone delivery service in the U.S. and supporting Wings Global flight operations The primary focus of this role is to train and evaluate Flight and Ground Crew members to operate the Wing system. You will plan, coordinate, and execute the training plans for individuals or groups of crewmembers to prepare them to satisfactorily complete qualification checks. You will also play a key role in the development and validation of training materials, methods, and content for the all Wing training programs. This position is subject to Wing’s Drug and Alcohol testing policy in accordance with Wing’s procedures and DOT/ FAA regulatory requirements. In order to maintain proficiency and expertise, you will also be scheduled and function as a line crew member for qualified roles. Wing Instructors will report to the Training Lead to support our focus on standards and compliance to our safety culture.
What You’ll Do:
- Conduct training for all flight and ground crew positions on the Wing UAS delivery system.
- Qualify and function as a Part 135 sUAS Flight Operator for Wing’s highly autonomous drone delivery service (20%) and conduct check evaluations
- Develop training materials, methods and training syllabus used to conduct training.
- Provide expertise for creating learning module content; review lessons for accuracy and provide feedback.
- Validate training material, support testing and evaluation to establish procedures, and collaborate as a subject matter expert (SME) with cross functional team members.
- Conduct group classroom events and practical simulator training events to qualify pilots and flight operations managers.
- Conduct group classroom events and practical events in a training laboratory and in the field to qualify ground support operators and visual observers.
- Conduct remedial, difference, initial, mission and recurrent training.
- Plan, schedule and execute individual training periods and events.
- Assess, debrief, and document the performance of trainees during training events.
- Assist in the training record generation and audit processes for the flight training program.
- Prepare and sign off students for checkrides and evaluations conducted by the FAA or Wing Check Pilot.
What You’ll Need:
- Current FAA Part 107 Remote Pilot certificate
- Current driver’s license and clean driving record within the last 36-months
- Must possess FAA First, Second or Third Class Medical Certificate or obtain prior to start date
- Willing to meet Pilot Records Database (PRD) consent requirements
- A minimum of 12-months of relevant experience as a Part 135 crew member
- FAA Fundamentals of Instruction (FOI) test completed and passed
- Ability to complete Wing instructor qualification (Flight) requirements within 30 days of your formal start date
- Ability to complete additional Wing instructor qualification (Ground) requirements within 60 days of start.
- Demonstrated experience and knowledge of aviation/flight manuals, training packages and UAS operations procedures
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Demonstrated experience as a trainer, instructor, educator, or coach
- Ability to travel domestically within the US (up to 50%) and internationally (up to 5%)
- Technical expertise and familiarity with UAS and the ability to operate, troubleshoot, and solve deficiencies to keep training on track
The US base salary range for this full-time position is the salary range below + bonus + equity + benefits. Wing’s salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Your recruiter can share more about the specific salary range for your location during the hiring process.
Salary Range
$138,000 - $149,000 USD
