About the Role:
Wing is looking for a Associate General Counsel to join our Legal team. This role will be based in Palo Alto, CA. You will help ensure that Wing is complying with a range of legal, regulatory, contractual, and standards obligations, while promoting an overall culture of compliance. Using right-sized, risk management approaches, you will help build a formal Enterprise Compliance function that will balance Wing’s compliance requirements with the dynamic needs of our business. You will work with leaders across the Company to proactively identify any significant gaps in existing procedures and develop innovative, efficient and effective solutions. You enjoy multitasking and are known for collaboration. You are simultaneously detail-oriented and focused on the big picture. Your written and verbal communication skills are impeccable. You can translate complex concepts into clear, succinct language.
What You’ll Do:
- Build a robust formal Enterprise Compliance function
- Update and maintain Company’s global legal and compliance policies
- Draft and maintain key documentation for compliance functions
- Prioritize compliance requirements, monitor prioritized compliance activities, develop and conduct compliance training, and ensure appropriate enforcement of compliance requirements
- Provide and/or secure legal advice on a wide range of matters, including but not limited to supply chain and trade compliance, aviation regulations, employment law, code of conduct issues, information security, safety, and operations
- Conduct, document and support internal investigations, as assigned
- Support entrance into new international and national markets in compliance with national, state, and local requirements
- Develop and maintain Company’s compliance calendar and compliance tracking systems, ensuring timely action
What You’ll Need:
- 12+ years of relevant legal experience
- JD Degree required
- Member in good standing of at least one state bar
- Willingness to get in the weeds and dive headfirst into whatever pressing issue or challenge is facing the business, regardless of familiarity or interest
- Adept at breaking complex or sprawling legal questions into discrete components and distinguishing between high- and low-priority issues
- Effectiveness in translating legal rules and regulations into clear, practical, and actionable processes and advice that business teams can understand and implement
- The confidence to make judgment calls with conviction–and the instincts to recognize when issues require escalation or input from others
- Responsiveness and a positive, solution-oriented attitude
- An ability to manage effectively to deadlines, even with competing priorities
- Effective verbal and written communication skills
- Ensure that legal deliverables are cogent, and at the same time have the ability to dig deeply into critical legal questions
- Ability to navigate through ambiguity, manage and coordinate work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment, accepting ownership and accountability of the process and delivering on commitments
- Experience with projects or programs involving legal, regulatory and reputation risk
- Audit background will be added bonus
- Certified Compliance and Ethics Professional (CCEP) certification is a plus
- Ability to take ownership, confidence to interact with all levels, set objectives, drive results, and be a team player
The US base salary range for this full-time position is the salary range below + bonus + equity + benefits. Wing’s salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Your recruiter can share more about the specific salary range for your location during the hiring process.
Salary Range
$320,000 - $373,000 USD
