About the Role:
Wing is looking for a Software Engineer, Perception to join our Perception team. This role will be hybrid based in Palo Alto, CA. Your role will be to design, implement, and support perception algorithms for our autonomous drone delivery system.
The position seeks highly-motivated individuals who enjoy working in a highly dynamic team environment. The successful candidate is able to demonstrate outstanding software engineering skills and a knack for solving problems within the drone perception domain. We’re looking for people who are intrinsically driven to solve hard problems with stunningly simple and pragmatic solutions, move fast, and are highly adaptive.
What You’ll Do:
- Implement and validate perception capabilities for Wing drones including navigating in GPS-denied environments, operating in challenging visual conditions, and building and maintaining large scale sparse and dense maps
- Support and improve existing systems including calibration, vision based navigation, 3D reconstruction and depth, sharing in the team’s expertise
- Carefully execute and report on analyses for evaluating new systems and reviewing data from production
- Design perception systems that are suitable for use in the real world in collaboration with cross-functional teams
What You’ll Need:
- 2+ years of experience in classical/geometric or learning based computer vision, image processing, robotics technologies
- MS degree in Computer Science, Robotics, Aerospace, Mechanical Engineering or 2 years of experience working on problems involving above mentioned skills in a directly related field
- Excellent software design and implementation skills
- Understanding of structured software development processes (code reviews, version control, unit test development, on-hardware test & debugging).
- Working understanding one or more of the following areas:
- Linear algebra
- Multiview geometry
- 3D reconstruction
- Depth from mono, Depth from stereo
- Camera calibration
- Bonus points for solving real world problems using a combination of learning and geometric based computer vision technologies
- Demonstrated experience writing, highly reliable code for resource constrained environments with real-time requirements
- Ability to independently work with cross-functional teams to drive features to completion.
- Ability to design and implement well thought-out simple solutions to business critical problems
The US base salary range for this full-time position is the salary range below + bonus + equity + benefits. Wing’s salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Your recruiter can share more about the specific salary range for your location during the hiring process.
Salary Range
$188,000 - $200,000 USD
