About the Role:

Wing is looking for a Supplier Quality Engineer to join our Quality Team based in Palo Alto, USA. The ideal candidate should be a highly motivated and highly disciplined person who enjoys working in a fast paced and highly dynamic team environment. The successful candidate is able to demonstrate solid records and experience in supplier quality, hardware failure analysis and project management. This candidate should be a team player working with suppliers, contractor manufacturers (CM), Wing reliability, hardware, mechanical engineering and other teams. The candidate should be able to drive supplier quality  issue resolution and effectively communicate to management, cross functional teams, as well as the CM(s).

What You’ll Do: 

  • Responsible for qualifying suppliers by partnering with other Wing mfg teams and doing supplier audits 
  • Drive supplier part number qualification working with Wing Mfg System, Mfg Process, Reliability and Engineering teams
  • Review supplier FAI report and drive tooling and / or process improvement to correct of spec dimensions till the part number is fully qualified
  • Drive supplier RCCA corresponding to CM IQC and production findings, and field quality feedback related to supplier material issues
  • Monitor supplier’s performance,  develop and publish supplier quality reports regularly
  • Identify poor performing suppliers  through supplier quality scorecard and trend analysis, drive improvement actions accordingly
  • Drive supplier yield improvement and other continuous improvement initiatives
  • Define and review specification requirements for fit, function, and reliability by working together with Wing Mechanical Engineering, Hardware Engineering and reliability team
  • Work with massive amounts of data and measure quality
  • Perform outgoing quality inspection at supplier site as required before supplier shipment
  • Qualify supplier’s inspection fixtures as required
  • Audit supplier’s entire quality system and process on regular basis and drive corrective action on identified non-compliances
  • Support CM’s NPI and mass production onsite as required

What You’ll Need: 

  • BS or higher in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience
  • 8+ years of experience in supplier quality / production quality / reliability engineering role and takes care of the product from NPI to volume MFG stage
  • Ability to effectively communicate with cross functional teams and leadership team
  • Strong manufacturing background in developing robust and repeatable processes to scale new products, including process qualification, process quality control and  line qualification in a rapid schedule
  • Expert in quality system and mfg process audits,  and continuous quality improvement at suppliers 
  • Understanding GD&T, tolerance stack up and design
  • Capable of identifying the time when help is needed and ask for help
  • JMP, Minitab and Six Sigma experience

Bonus: 

  • 10+ years of relevant work experience including experience in manufacturing environment, especially aviation products
  • Experience with the quality and regulatory compliance modules in Agile.
  • American Society for Quality certification preferred (CQE, CQM, CRE, or CQA)
  • Familiar with AS9100, ISO 9001, ISO/TS 16949
  • Experience with mechanical assembly,, injection molding, CNC machining and SMT process
  • Set up SPC, CP and CPK
  • Familiar with DOE, statistical analysis and using statistical tools such as Mini-tab and Jump
  • Six Sigma Green/Black Belt preferred
  • Fluent in English and Mandarin / Vietnamese (Nice to have / Not required)
