About the Role:
Wing is looking for a Commercial Counsel to join our Legal Team. This role will be based in Palo Alto, California. As a Commercial Counsel at Wing, you'll tackle exciting legal challenges at the forefront of Wing’s drone delivery services. You'll collaborate with various teams across the company to shape innovative solutions and work with cutting-edge aviation technology as you streamline processes and shape Wing's future. Your expertise will be crucial in navigating the legal landscape of a rapidly evolving industry, helping to define the rules of the sky as we build the future of logistics.
What You’ll Do:
- Advise cross-functional teams on a wide range of legal matters, including complex agreements, intellectual property, data privacy, regulatory compliance, and strategic transactions.
- Lead the review, drafting, and negotiation of Wing’s agreements, including NDAs, inbound services and SOWs, SaaS, partnerships, and strategic alliances. Ensure agreements are aligned with Wing's business objectives, policies, and risk tolerance.
- Drive legal agreements to completion while working cross-functionally and soliciting input, feedback and approvals from business stakeholders as appropriate.
- Lead initiatives to centralize and standardize procurement processes across Wing, implementing best practices and improving efficiency. Develop and implement scalable legal processes or streamline existing practices to support Wing's rapid growth.
- Own, improve and/or develop contract processes, policies, procedures and templates to help Wing grow and scale.
- Proactively identify and mitigate legal risks, providing guidance on compliance with US and international laws related to privacy, data protection, employment, and intellectual property.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders (e.g., finance, security, product, and engineering) to proactively identify, assess, and mitigate legal and business risks across the organization.
- Act as a key legal business partner, advising senior leaders and cross-functional teams on legal risks and opportunities related to new products and offerings, market expansion, and strategic initiatives
What You’ll Need:
- 6+ years of relevant legal experience; in-house experience a plus.
- Juris Doctor (JD) degree and active membership in good standing with at least one state bar.
- A proactive, hands-on approach, ready to tackle pressing business issues.
- Adept at breaking down complex legal questions and prioritizing issues.
- Ability to translate legal rules into clear, practical, and actionable advice for business teams.
- Confidence to make sound judgment calls with conviction, recognizing when to escalate issues.
- Responsive, solution-oriented attitude with strong organizational skills to manage competing deadlines.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to produce cogent legal deliverables and deep dive into critical questions.
- Comfort navigating ambiguity, managing work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment, and consistently delivering on commitments.
The US base salary range for this full-time position is the salary range below + bonus + equity + benefits. Wing’s salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Your recruiter can share more about the specific salary range for your location during the hiring process.
Salary Range
$235,000 - $244,000 USD
