The Opportunity

We are hiring a Field CTO to serve as the most senior technology voice to our largest customers, prospects, and the market.

The Field CTO is a C-suite-caliber technology executive who operates as a peer to the CIOs, CTOs, and CDOs of our Fortune 500 customers and a credible presence in their boardrooms. You are not a pre-sales architect with a bigger title. You are an executive who has sat in their chair: you have owned enterprise technology budgets of $50M+, presented to Boards, and made the platform, vendor, and transformation investment decisions our customers' CIOs face today. You know firsthand why those bets succeed or stall.

You will shape how the world's largest enterprises adopt agentic AI and automation at scale, translating Workato's platform vision into boardroom-ready strategy, influencing executive committees, and bringing field intelligence back to inform Workato's product roadmap and go-to-market strategy.

Success in this role is measured by your ability to build trusted executive relationships, influence strategic customer outcomes, accelerate enterprise platform adoption, and position Workato as the category leader in enterprise AI and automation.

What You'll Own

  • Trusted Advisor to the C-Suite. Serve as the senior technology counterpart to CIOs, CTOs, CDOs, and Boards at our top strategic accounts. Lead executive briefings, advisory councils, strategic visioning sessions, and architecture reviews that shape multi-year transformation roadmaps.
  • Boardroom Engagement. Present to customer Boards and executive committees on AI execution strategy, agentic operating models, governance, and the economics of enterprise automation. Build alignment across business and technology stakeholders so organizations can make complex transformation decisions with confidence.
  • Strategic Deal Acceleration. Partner with Sales leadership on Workato's largest, most strategic, and most complex enterprise pursuits. Strengthen executive sponsorship, expand the strategic scope of opportunities, and unlock seven- and eight-figure platform investments.
  • Transformation Strategy. Advise customers on enterprise AI adoption, intelligent automation, modern integration architecture, governance models, and organizational readiness. Help executive teams define pragmatic roadmaps that extend beyond implementation toward sustainable business transformation.
  • Voice of the Market. Serve as a primary spokesperson at industry events (including Gartner symposia and leading industry summits), analyst briefings, executive forums, and customer advisory councils. Author keynotes, executive point-of-view papers, and strategic content that establish Workato as the definitive leader in enterprise AI execution.
  • Product & Strategy Influence. Translate field signals into direct input to the CEO, CPO, CTO, and Product organization on roadmap priorities, platform strategy, competitive positioning, and emerging customer requirements, including Enterprise MCP, agentic AI frameworks, and governance.
  • Field Enablement. Coach Solutions Engineering, Customer Success, and Sales leadership on executive engagement, strategic technology positioning, and boardroom storytelling. Build repeatable frameworks that scale Workato's executive motion.

Who You Are

You are a rare profile: an enterprise operator with genuine commercial range. You have led transformation inside a Fortune 500 organization, and you know how to represent a platform to executive buyers, whether you built that muscle on the vendor side or by carrying your own company's capabilities to its largest customers. You understand how executive technology decisions are made, how enterprise transformation succeeds, and what it takes to create lasting business value.

  • Enterprise Chief Information Officer (CIO) or Chief Technology Officer (CTO) experience at a Fortune 500 / Global 2000 organization, with ownership of enterprise architecture, application portfolios, technology strategy, and transformation at scale.
  • Commercial experience on either side of the table. Strongly preferred: executive-level experience at an enterprise software vendor selling into the Fortune 500 (iPaaS, AI/ML, cloud platforms, data, ERP, or adjacent infrastructure). Also compelling: a customer-facing operator role in which you regularly represented your company's products, platform, and capabilities to enterprise customers, advisory boards, and industry analysts. Either way, you understand how executive buying decisions are made.
  • 15+ years of senior technology leadership, including 5+ years at the C-suite or equivalent executive level.
  • Deep fluency in enterprise integration architecture, AI and agentic systems, data platforms, cloud architecture, and the modern enterprise application ecosystem (Salesforce, SAP, Workday, ServiceNow, NetSuite, Oracle, Microsoft).
  • Demonstrated success leading large-scale digital transformation with measurable business outcomes.
  • A compelling storyteller and communicator, with executive presence proven through Board work, public speaking, analyst engagement, media, or published thought leadership.
  • Comfortable operating in ambiguity, influencing without formal authority, navigating matrixed organizations, and moving at the pace of a high-growth platform company.
  • Naturally curious and commercially minded, energized by helping customers solve complex strategic challenges, with the judgment and executive maturity the world's largest enterprises expect.

Location & Travel

  • Remote, based anywhere in the United States (proximity to a major airport hub strongly preferred).
  • Approximately 60% travel to customer sites, executive briefing centers, industry events, and Workato headquarters.

What Success Looks Like

Within your first year, you are a trusted advisor to Workato's most strategic customers: leading executive strategy engagements, shaping transformational AI and automation initiatives, influencing the direction of major enterprise opportunities, and strengthening Workato's relationships with senior technology leaders. You contribute directly to product strategy through market intelligence and executive customer feedback, and you represent Workato as a recognized thought leader in enterprise AI and automation.

What We Offer

A platform-defining role at the most strategic moment in enterprise software in a generation. Direct visibility to and influence with Workato’s CEO and executive team. Compensation commensurate with C-suite executive talent - competitive base, performance incentives, and meaningful equity. The opportunity to shape the category that will define how the Fortune 500 operates for the next decade.

Form CC-305

Why are you being asked to complete this form?

We are a federal contractor or subcontractor. The law requires us to provide equal employment opportunity to qualified people with disabilities. We have a goal of having at least 7% of our workers as people with disabilities. The law says we must measure our progress towards this goal. To do this, we must ask applicants and employees if they have a disability or have ever had one. People can become disabled, so we need to ask this question at least every five years.

Completing this form is voluntary, and we hope that you will choose to do so. Your answer is confidential. No one who makes hiring decisions will see it. Your decision to complete the form and your answer will not harm you in any way. If you want to learn more about the law or this form, visit the U.S. Department of Labor’s Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP) website at www.dol.gov/ofccp.
