Summary
The Director of Technology and Innovation is part of the Senior Management Team and will oversee all technological and innovative initiatives at Pioneer related to hardware, software, and artificial intelligence (AI) within our PCB manufacturing operations. This role is critical in driving technological advancement and ensuring our systems, processes, and products remain at the forefront of the industry. The successful candidate will lead cross-functional teams, manage technology infrastructure, and work closely with senior leadership to identify new opportunities for growth and efficiency through technology integration.
Essential Job Functions
1. Strategic Leadership:
Develop and execute the company’s technology and innovation strategy, aligning with broader business objectives and growth targets.
Identify and evaluate emerging technologies, trends, and industry innovations, particularly in hardware, software, and AI, to ensure the company’s competitive advantage in the PCB manufacturing sector.
Lead and manage the technology roadmap for both short-term and long-term initiatives.
Advise stakeholders on matters related to technology investments, strategy, and innovation.
2. Technology Oversight:
Lead the integration of advanced hardware technologies (e.g., automated manufacturing equipment, sensors, robotics) and software systems (e.g., ERP, MES, simulation tools) to optimize production processes and improve product quality.
Oversee the development and implementation of AI and machine learning solutions for predictive maintenance, quality control, process optimization, and demand forecasting in PCB manufacturing.
Collaborate with teams to design and develop next-generation PCB technologies and products, leveraging state-of-the-art materials, manufacturing techniques, and design software.
3. Cybersecurity & Risk Management:
Lead the development and execution of a comprehensive cybersecurity strategy to protect the company’s technology infrastructure, including hardware, software, and AI systems, from cyber threats and vulnerabilities.
Ensure the security of all connected manufacturing equipment, IoT devices, and data systems to mitigate risks in the PCB manufacturing process.
Implement best practices for data protection, network security, and secure software development, including regular audits and vulnerability assessments.
Stay informed on the latest cybersecurity trends, regulations, and industry standards to ensure compliance and safeguard the company and customer property and proprietary data.
4. Team Leadership & Development:
Lead a multidisciplinary team fostering a culture of innovation and continuous improvement.
Provide mentorship and career development opportunities to technology staff, ensuring they remain at the forefront of industry knowledge and technical skills.
Promote collaboration between technical teams and other departments (e.g., manufacturing, supply chain, quality assurance) to drive innovation in all areas of the company.
5. Innovation Management:
Foster a culture of innovation within the company, encouraging experimentation and the adoption of new technologies that can deliver tangible improvements.
Manage the end-to-end lifecycle of innovation initiatives, from ideation and prototyping through to deployment and scaling.
Lead external partnerships with technology vendors, academic institutions, and other industry leaders to drive innovation and access cutting-edge solutions.
6. Budget & Resource Management:
Oversee the budget for technology development and innovation projects, ensuring efficient use of resources while delivering high-impact solutions.
Manage and allocate resources effectively across multiple projects, ensuring timely delivery and meeting performance metrics.
7. Continuous Improvement:
Analyze existing manufacturing processes and systems, identifying opportunities for automation, digitization, and AI-enabled improvements.
Champion lean manufacturing principles and technologies to enhance operational efficiency and reduce waste in production.
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field; a Master’s degree is a plus.
Minimum of 10 years of experience in a technology leadership role, with at least 5 years focused on hardware, software, or AI technologies in a manufacturing environment.
Proven experience in PCB manufacturing, electronics manufacturing, or a related field is strongly preferred.
Strong track record of managing cross-functional teams and delivering successful technology-driven projects.
Expertise in hardware development, software engineering, AI/ML implementation, and digital transformation in a manufacturing context.
In-depth understanding of PCB manufacturing processes, equipment, and design tools.
Familiarity with automation technologies, industrial IoT (IIoT), and robotics in manufacturing.
Experience with AI/ML frameworks, data analytics, and cloud technologies, particularly in optimizing production and supply chain processes.
Proficiency with software systems (e.g., ERP, MES, simulation tools) and programming languages (e.g., Python, C++).
Strong understanding of data security and compliance in a manufacturing environment.
Excellent leadership, interpersonal, and team-building skills with the ability to inspire and manage diverse teams.
Strong strategic thinking and problem-solving abilities, with a focus on results and ROI.
Outstanding communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex technological concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
Preferred Skills
