2027 Summer Associate

Emery Celli Brinckerhoff Abady Ward & Maazel LLP is a litigation boutique with offices in New York City and Berkeley, California. The firm’s practice consists of a unique blend of civil rights, commercial, criminal, and professional ethics. The firm’s core civil rights practice focuses on employment and housing discrimination, sexual harassment and assault, children’s rights, disability rights, prisoners' rights, police misconduct, wrongful convictions, wrongful death, First Amendment rights, and class action litigation, among other areas. The firm’s general commercial litigation practice includes contract and partnership disputes, real estate and land use, intellectual property, internal investigations, and other areas.

The firm seeks applications from current 2Ls for a position as a 2027 summer associate. The summer associate position is a paid position and requires a minimum 10-week commitment. Summer associates are paid a prorated salary of $115,000. We seek a student with outstanding academic credentials, writing ability, and advocacy skills, as well as a demonstrated commitment to civil rights and civil liberties issues. The summer associate position is based at the firm’s New York City office. The firm expects to hire 2-3 summer associates for summer 2027. There may be an opportunity for one summer associate to split the summer between the firm’s New York City and Berkeley offices, though this is not required.
