Powder Coat Prep

Specific Role:
The Coat Prep is a key role in EMIT’s manufacturing facility, responsible for preparing, handling, and moving parts prior to the coating process. This hands-on position supports production by receiving parts from the welding division and ensuring they are properly prepped and ready for line loaders. This role requires attention to detail, organization, and a commitment to maintaining quality and safety standards.
Key Accountabilities:
- Inspect and prepare materials using necessary processes, including but not limited to chemical washing, removing spatter, rust, scratches, and debris, as well as masking and plugging.
- Report and escalate any material or quality issues to supervisors.
- Ensure all prepped parts are properly labeled and tracked.
- Maintain clean, organized work areas free of potential hazards.
- Follow leadership direction to meet daily production priorities.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- 1–2+ years of experience in manufacturing, coating, or material preparation preferred.
- Ability to identify defects such as rust, scratches, and debris prior to coating.
- Strong attention to detail to ensure parts meet quality standards.
- Ability to follow detailed prep procedures and instructions.
- Comfortable working with a sense of urgency in a production environment.
- Ability to lift 50–75 lbs. repeatedly and remain on your feet throughout the shift.
- Commitment to following all PPE requirements and workplace safety protocols.
- Dependable, self-motivated, and able to work independently or as part of a team.
Physical & Safety Requirements:
- Ability to lift up to 50–75 lbs. repeatedly.
- Comfortable standing, walking, and moving for the duration of a shift.
- Always use proper PPE when required.
- Follow safety protocols when using tools and handling materials.
Pay Range
$18 - $20 USD
