Environments Designer

Manchester, United Kingdom

A bit about the role …

Emota create unforgettable brand experiences that captivate audiences and push creative boundaries. As an award-winning experiential agency, we bring visions to life through the full spectrum of Meetings, Events and Exhibitions, underpinned by industry-leading sustainability, DEI, Health and Safety and ground-breaking production practices. We're delighted to present an opportunity for a mid-level Environments Designer to join our Environments team and help us create moments that matter.

What will you do …

As an Environments Designer within the Emota Environments team, you'll help bring environments and experiences to life. These environments and experiences will span across trade shows, pop-ups, and immersive installations. Your clients will include some of the world's leading pharmaceutical companies, and a varied mix of clients from other industries. Reporting to a Design Director, you'll work alongside a talented team of designers, creatives, and project managers to bring ideas to life through thoughtful spatial concepts, engaging visuals, and high quality production ready deliverables. You'll involve yourself in every stage of the design process, making this a great opportunity for someone who is curious, keen to develop their skills, and enjoys taking a hands-on approach to design.

  • Work with the team to understand client briefs — asking questions, exploring ideas, and helping shape the creative direction.
  • Take part in early ideation sessions, using sketches, mood boards, gen ai, or whatever method fits best to communicate your ideas clearly and confidently.
  • Create 3D visuals and 2D technical drawings of your designs using industry-standard software.
  • As part of a team, conduct research into new materials, processes and software so to push the boundaries of environment design.
  • Work closely with suppliers to problem-solve, refine, and help bring your ideas to life
  • Join regular project meetings with internal teams and clients to present and share your ideas and designs.
  • Visit onsite builds to see your designs take shape and support the production team where needed.

What do you need to have …

  • A creative spark for problem-solving and a natural instinct for designing experiential spaces that shape how people feel, move and interact.
  • Confidence taking projects from initial concepts through to developed designs.
  • Confidence using 3D modelling, 2D CAD and Adobe Creative Suite software.
  • An understanding of sustainable design principles, with the ability to consider materials, production methods and environmental impact throughout the design process.
  • A genuine interest in artificial intelligence and how emerging AI tools can be thoughtfully integrated into everyday creative and design workflows.
  • A real appetite to learn from others and continue developing your design craft.
  • 1+ years experience within the exhibition industry or another relevant spatial, experiential or built-environment design discipline.
