As a Software Engineering Manager at Lantern, you’ll lead a team of talented engineers building the next generation of our digital health platforms. You’ll guide the application and mobile engineering teams as they design, build, and enhance the features that power our products and services. In this role, you’ll collaborate closely with business and technology leaders to deliver high-quality software that meets real user needs and drives Lantern’s mission forward. We’re looking for someone who’s not just an expert in technology, but also a hands-on leader who loves solving problems and empowering teams. You should have experience developing large-scale web and mobile solutions using modern cloud platforms like Microsoft Azure or AWS, backend technologies such as .NET or Python, and front-end frameworks like React or Angular—plus experience with React Native for mobile development.

Location: Remote – USA 

Responsibilities:

  • Lead a team of developers to design, develop and deploy web and mobile applications in cloud native environment.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to team members, fostering their professional growth and development.
  • Hands-on role with ability to work on technical design documents, code and deployments.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather requirements, define project scope, and establish timelines.
  • Drive the implementation of best practices in software development, including code reviews, testing strategies, and continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines.
  • Take ownership of project deliverables, ensuring they meet quality standards and are delivered on time and within budget.
  • Act as a point of contact for technical escalations and provide timely resolutions to issues.
  • Communicate effectively with stakeholders to provide project updates, address concerns, and gather feedback.

Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Engineering, or related field. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted in lieu of a degree. Master’s degree in engineering or related field is a plus.
  • 7+ years of experience in software development, with a strong proficiency in C#, Python, React Native, Nodejs or similar
  • Proven experience leading software development teams specializing in web and mobile applications.
  • 6+ years of experience with designing and consuming REST APIs
  • 3+ Experience developing for mobile apps for iOS and Android app stores.
  • 5+ years of experience developing with Microsoft SQL (preferred) or other relational databases.
  • Experience working OAuth 2.0 authentication and authorization flows.
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines and familiarity with related tools like GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps or Jenkins
  • Strong Experience with Cloud platforms such as Microsoft Azure, AWS or GCP.
  • Strong understanding of software architecture principles and agile delivery methodologies.

Strong Candidates Will have:

  • Experience working with healthcare applications or integrations using HL7/FHIR standards.
  • Background in building scalable Python SaaS applications, microservices, and frontend platforms in a regulated industry.
  • Proven success in driving technical strategy and improving team effectiveness.
  • Passion for mentoring engineers, fostering innovation, and cultivating an inclusive engineering culture.
