Where Do We Need Your Help?
We’re a high-growth technology company with top-rated products, including the leading home energy monitor and a top-selling EV charger. As we expand beyond our early adopters to a broader consumer base, we need a highly organized Document Control Specialist to manage the organization, storage, and lifecycle of engineering and production-related documents and artifacts across Emporia’s product lines.

Role Overview 

In this role you will ensure version control, compliance with internal standards, and timely dissemination of documentation to all stakeholders. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, thrive in a structured environment, and work effectively across engineering, production, and CM (Contract Manufacturer) teams. 

Responsibilities 

  • Own and maintain Emporia’s document control system (Arena PLM), ensuring accuracy, completeness, and security of all digital controlled documents

  • Lead the implementation and ongoing refinement of Arena PLM processes across the organization, working closely with engineering and operations teams

  • Develop, document, and enforce internal standards and policies for document control, including file structure, naming conventions, version control methods, and approval processes

  • Drive documentation and BOM changes to Contract Manufacturer (CM) partners and follow through to ensure accurate and timely implementation of those changes

  • Manage digital storage systems and folder structures to ensure easy access, consistent organization, and proper archiving

  • Manage document change control processes including Engineering Change Orders (ECOs), revision history, and approvals within Arena

  • Collaborate with Engineering, Operations, and Product Management to ensure timely release and distribution of controlled documents (e.g., BOMs, assembly drawings, specifications, procedures)

  • Maintain accurate metadata and version tracking, and ensure obsolete or superseded documents are archived appropriately

  • Facilitate cross-functional training on document control processes, Arena usage, and best practices

  • Assist in the continuous improvement of document control workflows, templates, and communication processes

Required Qualifications and Skills 

  • 3+ years of experience in document control, preferably in electronics hardware

  • Experience building or contributing to document control policies and best practices

  • Experience working directly with Contract Manufacturers (CMs) to communicate and verify implementation of changes

  • Strong understanding of document lifecycle management, revision control, and approval workflows

  • Highly organized and meticulous with excellent attention to detail

  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills for cross-functional collaboration

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite

  • Experience and working knowledge of Arena PLM

Preferred Qualifications and Skills 

  • Experience implementing or configuring Arena PLM and driving adoption across cross-functional teams
  • Experience supporting documentation for consumer electronics, EVSE, or energy-related products
  • Familiarity with regulatory documentation (e.g., UL files, certification reports)
