Role Overview
Emporia is hiring an AI Marketing Engineer: Digital & Lifecycle to build and operate the systems behind customer lifecycle marketing.
This role owns the digital, CRM, and lifecycle infrastructure that lets Emporia's marketing team segment customers, trigger communications from real behavior, test experiences, and use AI to increase the speed and scale of execution. They also own the day-to-day website: content, updates, and fielding requests as they come in.
This is a results-driven marketing role. You will define how your work is measured, build the tracking needed to measure it, and hold yourself accountable for whether what you ship actually improves customer behavior and business results.
Marketing and Creative leadership own Emporia's campaign calendar and brand strategy. On a small team, everyone briefs and everyone touches creative, and this role is no exception. When you build the automation, you also own getting the right message in front of the right customer: writing the brief, partnering with the designer through to the finished asset, and loading it into the system you built.
As an AI-native marketer you will approach marketing as a system to be designed, not a series of tasks to be completed. You will look for ways AI and automation can own execution at scale, while deliberately reserving human involvement for the decisions, exceptions, and judgment where it creates real value.
What You'll Own
CRM, Lifecycle & Measurement
- Own Emporia’s CRM and lifecycle platform, including customer data, segmentation, integrations, deliverability, and reporting.
- Build automated journeys across onboarding, product adoption, cross-sell, retention, and program enrollment.
- Build AI-native workflows for personalization, content, segmentation, analysis, and other lifecycle needs, designing for autonomous execution where appropriate rather than simply using AI to make manual work faster.
- Build for reliability: monitor automated workflows, fix recurring problems at the system level, and maintain the documentation needed to keep critical systems running.
- Build the tracking and reporting needed to measure funnel performance, campaign impact, and business outcomes.
- Design and implement experiments with clear hypotheses and success metrics; use the results to decide what to scale, change, or stop.
Website Execution
- Own day-to-day execution of Emporia's website: page updates, content changes, and new landing pages tied to active campaigns and program launches.
- Field and prioritize website requests from other teams. Keep a clear queue so nothing sits unaddressed.
- Keep site content and messaging current as offers, programs, and pricing change.
- Use AI development tools to build or update lightweight web pages and landing experiences without waiting on Engineering for routine changes.
- Escalate to Engineering when a request needs deeper platform work, security review, or infrastructure changes.
Campaign Briefing and Creative Direction
- Own the creative brief for campaigns tied to the lifecycle programs you build..
- Lead with a customer-first point of view. Know what will actually motivate this segment to act, beyond what's technically correct or on-brand.
- Partner with the graphic designer from brief through finished asset, managing revisions and timeline to completion.
- Load finished creative into the CRM and automation systems you own. Design versioning may eventually be automated. For at least the first six months, expect to manage it directly.
Cross-functional execution
- Work with the Director to prioritize lifecycle, website, and automation work against the highest-value company opportunities.
- Partner with Creative, Product, Analytics, and other teams when the work crosses systems or functions.
- Surface dependencies, risks, and limitations early rather than letting them become blockers.
Required Qualifications: What You'll Bring
- 3+ years of hands-on experience in CRM, lifecycle marketing, marketing automation, marketing operations, or a related role.
- Experience owning or administering a marketing platform such as HubSpot, Braze, Iterable, Klaviyo, Salesforce Marketing Cloud, or a similar system.
- Experience building lifecycle programs and experiments where you were accountable for measurable improvements in conversion, engagement, retention, revenue, or another defined business outcome.
- Practical experience using AI tools in real workflows, beyond a consumer chat interface.
- Experience designing AI workflows, including prompts, business rules, monitoring, and deciding where human review adds value versus unnecessary friction.
- Comfort working with APIs, webhooks, data integrations, and the basic mechanics of how systems exchange information.
- Comfortable making content updates and lightweight builds on a website or CMS platform, and fielding requests from other teams without letting them pile up.
- Strong analytical instincts. You can define KPIs, instrument tracking, build useful reporting, interpret results, and turn what the data says into the next action.
- A builder's mindset. You are curious, persistent and comfortable getting into the platform, diagnosing a problem, and fixing it.
- Genuine consumer instinct / always putting the customer at the center of your strategy. You can look at a segment and have a real point of view on what will move them, beyond how to target them.
- Comfortable writing creative briefs and partnering with a designer through to a finished asset. This role owns creative execution for what it builds, beyond the automation behind it.
