Position Summary
The Pharmacy Technician, Dispensing plays a critical role in delivering accurate, timely, and compliant medications that improve lives at scale across Empower’s 503A and 503B compounding pharmacy operations.
This role executes with precision in a fast-moving, highly regulated environment where quality, throughput, and documentation accuracy directly impact patient safety and business performance. The ideal candidate thinks ahead, learns quickly, solves problems early, and uses technology to reduce friction, strengthen accuracy, and improve workflow execution.
Responsibilities
Dispensing Accuracy and Compliance
- Review prescriptions, patient information, product details, and labeling elements to ensure accuracy, regulatory compliance, and readiness for pharmacist review.
- Prepare and apply accurate labels with correct dosing, auxiliary warnings, expiration details, and traceability elements.
- Complete dispensing records in real time with accuracy, supporting audit readiness, data integrity, and alignment with internal procedures.
Workflow Execution and Throughput
- Organize daily dispensing activities by urgency, turnaround expectations, and workflow dependencies to meet productivity and service commitments.
- Maintain strong output under volume while minimizing rework and protecting quality standards.
- Identify discrepancies, bottlenecks, or fulfillment risks early and communicate clearly to pharmacists or leaders.
Technology Adoption and Continuous Improvement
- Use established technology tools, system workflows, and data inputs to support accurate documentation, task visibility, and consistent dispensing execution.
- Learn pharmacy systems, barcode tools, and digital workflows quickly, adapting as processes evolve.
- Recognize repetitive inefficiencies, suggest practical workflow enhancements, and support improvements that increase speed, accuracy, and consistency.
Knowledge and Skills
- Strong knowledge of dispensing workflows, prescription accuracy standards, labeling requirements, documentation practices, and SOP adherence.
- Ability to use pharmacy systems, barcode verification tools, digital task platforms, and AI-enabled technologies to improve workflow efficiency.
- Excellent attention to detail, sound judgment, and clear communication skills.
- High learning agility, coachability, and organizational discipline with the ability to perform accurately in fast-paced environments.
Experience and Qualifications
- Active Pharmacy Technician registration, licensure, or certification as required by applicable state regulations.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; associate degree or healthcare-related training preferred.
- Previous experience in pharmacy operations, dispensing, production, fulfillment, or another detail-intensive regulated environment preferred.
- Proven ability to follow standardized processes, maintain documentation accuracy, and work within quality and compliance expectations.
- Experience using technology to improve work quality and efficiency preferred, including comfort with AI-enabled tools and digital workflows.
- Demonstrated reliability, accountability, and strong performance in fast-paced environments with measurable quality and productivity expectations.
