Position Summary:
As a key contributor to Empower’s supply chain team, the Buyer Planner II leads complex procurement strategies that drive cost savings, mitigate supply risk, and ensure continuity of supply for high-quality medications. This role independently manages sourcing activities, strengthens supplier partnerships, and supports cross-functional initiatives to meet production and commercialization goals. Responsibilities:
- Lead end-to-end procurement processes, ensuring supplier alignment with company objectives, compliance standards, and production timelines.
- Develop and execute strategic sourcing plans to drive cost optimization, supplier diversification, and long-term agreements that enhance business continuity.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with Quality, Manufacturing, and Regulatory teams to qualify suppliers and ensure compliance with current Good Manufacturing Practices, Food and Drug Administration, and Drug Enforcement Administration requirements.
- Implement supplier performance metrics, conduct evaluations, and use data-driven insights to improve vendor quality, service levels, and on-time delivery.
- Lead supply chain readiness efforts for new product launches and technical transfers, ensuring material availability aligns with commercialization timelines.
Knowledge and Skills:
- Strong leadership, analytical thinking, and stakeholder management skills with the ability to influence outcomes and drive continuous improvement.
- Proficiency in Enterprise Resource Planning systems such as SAP or Oracle, with advanced Microsoft Excel skills and the ability to use data analytics for procurement decisions.
Experience and Qualifications:
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in procurement or supply chain management, with at least 2 years in a senior or lead role managing complex sourcing strategies and supplier negotiations.
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain, Life Sciences, or equivalent experience required.
- Certified in Production and Inventory Management (CPIM), Certified Supply Chain Professional (CSCP), or Project Management Professional (PMP) preferred.
