Position Summary:
The Director, Content leads Empower Pharmacy’s content strategy and newsroom operations, driving storytelling that builds brand trust, visibility, and engagement across owned and emerging channels. This director-level role transforms Empower into a data-informed content hub, balancing creativity, compliance, and analytics to deliver content that informs, educates, and mobilizes audiences.
Working closely with media relations, digital, and marketing teams, the Director ensures all content advances Empower’s mission and leadership in personalized and compounded medicine. This role serves as the steward of Empower’s editorial voice, standards, and operating model across platforms.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and execute a comprehensive content strategy aligned with Empower’s business priorities, brand positioning, and growth objectives.
- Establish and lead Empower’s newsroom model, producing timely, accurate, and compliant content across owned channels including website, blog, social platforms, newsletters, and emerging formats.
- Define editorial standards, governance, workflows, and approval processes that enable consistency, speed, and scalability in a regulated healthcare environment.
- Shape Empower’s narrative leadership by positioning the organization as an authority in personalized and compounded medicine through clear, credible, and compelling storytelling.
- Oversee content ideation, production, optimization, and distribution, ensuring alignment with brand voice, compliance requirements, and audience needs.
- Partner closely with media relations to align earned and owned storytelling and support proactive and reactive communications.
- Collaborate with analytics and digital teams to leverage social listening, search data, and audience insights to inform editorial strategy.
- Lead SEO and GEO strategies to improve discoverability, reach, and audience growth across search and local environments.
- Integrate AI and emerging technologies into content planning, creation, optimization, and reporting to increase speed, personalization, and insight.
- Monitor industry, competitor, and audience trends to identify narrative opportunities and risks.
- Build, mentor, and lead a multidisciplinary content team, fostering a culture of excellence, innovation, and accountability.
Knowledge and Skills:
- Proven success building high-performing content programs that drive SEO growth, thought leadership, and measurable engagement.
- Strong understanding of regulatory, compliance, and reputational considerations in healthcare communications.
- Exceptional writing, editing, and editorial judgment skills with experience overseeing content at scale.
- Demonstrated experience using analytics, social listening, and AI-powered tools to inform strategy and measure impact.
- Ability to operate as both strategist and hands-on leader in a fast-paced environment.
Experience and Qualifications:
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in content strategy, editorial leadership, brand storytelling, or communications, with at least 5 years within healthcare.
- Experience leading content programs in healthcare, life sciences, pharmaceutical, or another highly regulated industry.
- Bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism, marketing, or a related field required.
