Position Summary:
As a strategic procurement leader at Empower Pharmacy, the Senior Procurement Specialist drives sourcing excellence across critical categories such as active pharmaceutical ingredients (API), raw materials, packaging, and contract services. This role ensures supply continuity, cost efficiency, and regulatory compliance while enabling innovative product development and commercialization through strong supplier partnerships. By optimizing total cost of ownership and strengthening Empower’s global supply network, this position directly supports the mission to expand access to quality, affordable medications.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and lead sourcing strategies across APIs, raw materials, packaging, and contract services to ensure a secure and cost-effective supply chain aligned with business needs.
- Negotiate contracts, supplier agreements, and service terms while managing long-term supplier performance and implementing risk mitigation strategies.
- Collaborate with Research and Development, Engineering, Quality, and Regulatory teams to ensure supplier qualification and compliance with cGMP, FDA, and DEA requirements.
- Support new product introductions, technical transfers, and supply chain readiness for commercialization through proactive procurement planning and stakeholder alignment.
- Drive procurement process optimization by integrating automation tools, digital systems, and data-driven insights to improve efficiency, accuracy, and continuous improvement.
Knowledge and Skills:
- Strong leadership, analytical, and cross-functional communication skills with the ability to manage high-value negotiations and influence decision-making.
- Proficiency in Oracle or other ERP systems, along with advanced Excel and digital sourcing tools experience.
- Strong understanding of regulatory compliance, scientific terminology, and procurement workflows within pharmaceutical environments.
Experience and Qualifications:
- Minimum of 8 years of experience in vendor relationship management and contract negotiation within a cGMP, pharmaceutical, or biotechnology environment.
- Bachelor’s degree in Life Sciences, Supply Chain, Business, or equivalent experience required; master’s degree or MBA preferred.
- Professional certifications such as CPIM, CSCP, CPSM, or PMP preferred.
