POSITION SUMMARY
The Senior Director, Learning & Development at Empower Pharmacy leads the strategy, design, and execution of an enterprise learning ecosystem that accelerates workforce capability and leadership effectiveness. This role transforms learning into a strategic business driver by aligning development programs with operational priorities, growth objectives, and emerging technology capabilities. Reporting to the Chief Human Resources Officer, the Senior Director builds scalable learning frameworks that reduce time-to-competency, strengthen leadership pipelines, and enable employees to perform at increasingly higher levels as the organization expands.
This leader oversees training programs supporting sales, customer service, quality, medical affairs, and leadership development while implementing modern learning technologies, including AI-enabled learning solutions that personalize development pathways and improve knowledge retention. Through strong partnerships with executive leadership and data-driven insights, the Senior Director ensures that Empower’s workforce develops the skills, behaviors, and technical expertise required to sustain operational excellence and support the company’s rapid growth trajectory.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Enterprise Learning Strategy
- Develops and executes a comprehensive enterprise learning and development strategy aligned with Empower’s long-term growth objectives and operational priorities.
- Establishes a scalable learning ecosystem supporting onboarding, technical training, professional development, and leadership capability building across the organization.
- Partners with executive leaders to identify workforce capability gaps and deploy development initiatives that drive measurable business outcomes.
- Ensures learning strategies reinforce Empower’s core values of People, Quality, Service, and Innovation.
Functional Training Leadership
- Oversees training programs supporting sales, customer service, quality, medical affairs, and leadership development across the enterprise.
- Ensures role-specific training programs build practical capabilities tied directly to operational performance and regulatory expectations.
- Collaborates with functional leaders to align learning programs with business priorities, operational excellence, and employee performance outcomes.
- Continuously evaluates and improves curriculum to ensure relevance as the organization evolves and expands.
Speed-to-Competency Acceleration
- Designs role-based training pathways and certification programs that prepare employees to perform critical responsibilities with confidence and consistency.
- Reduces onboarding ramp time by aligning training programs with real-world job requirements and operational workflows.
- Implements competency assessments and certification models that validate readiness for key operational and leadership roles.
- Uses learner feedback, operational insights, and performance metrics to refine training effectiveness and curriculum quality.
Leadership Development and Capability Building
- Develops scalable leadership development programs that strengthen accountability, coaching capability, and operational decision-making.
- Designs development journeys supporting frontline supervisors, emerging leaders, and senior leadership succession pipelines.
- Integrates learning into the flow of work through coaching frameworks, microlearning, and embedded leadership tools.
- Measures leadership development impact through behavioral indicators, performance metrics, and organizational outcomes.
Learning Technology and Data-Driven Innovation
- Leads the implementation and optimization of learning technologies including LMS, LXP, and digital learning platforms.
- Establishes reporting systems and dashboards that measure engagement, competency development, and training effectiveness.
- Leverages learning analytics to identify workforce capability gaps and prioritize development investments.
- Applies AI-enabled learning tools to personalize development pathways and improve learning precision and scalability.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS
- Demonstrates deep expertise in enterprise learning strategy, leadership development, and workforce capability building within complex or rapidly scaling organizations.
- Strong understanding of modern learning technologies including learning management systems, learning experience platforms, and AI-driven learning solutions that enable personalized development and scalable training delivery.
- Advanced analytical capability with experience leveraging learning data, performance metrics, and operational insights to continuously improve program effectiveness and business impact.
- Exceptional leadership and collaboration skills with the ability to influence senior leaders, build high-performing teams, and align talent development initiatives with strategic organizational priorities.
EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS
- Minimum of 10+ years of experience leading learning and development, talent development, or organizational development initiatives within complex or high-growth organizations.
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Organizational Development, Business Administration, Education, or related discipline required; advanced degree preferred.
- Demonstrated success designing enterprise learning programs including leadership development, technical training, and role-based capability development.
- Experience implementing scalable learning systems, digital learning platforms, and AI-enabled learning technologies that enhance workforce development and business performance.
