About The Role:
The Controller will lead and mature the accounting function, ensuring accurate financial reporting, robust internal controls, and scalable operations. This role is critical to building the financial infrastructure needed to support growth, evolving compliance needs, and a dynamic business model with complex order management requirements.
What You’ll Be Doing:
- Lead and scale the accounting organization, including GL, AR/AP, revenue recognition, and tax.
- Ensure timely and accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial closings in accordance with U.S. GAAP.
- Partner with Strategic Finance and business leaders to improve visibility into financial performance and key metrics.
- Drive transformation of accounting operations, implementing best-in-class systems, controls, and processes.
- Evaluate and enhance the quote-to-cash and procure-to-pay processes to support business agility and compliance.
- Oversee order management, billing, and collections functions to ensure accuracy and customer satisfaction.
- Ensure compliance with private equity reporting requirements (in partnership with Strategic Finance) and lead audit and tax preparation processes.
- Understand and ensure compliance with debt agreement obligations including the review of periodic debt compliance materials and participation on periodic lender discussions.
- Develop and lead a high-performing accounting team with a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
What We Are Looking For:
- CPA required; public accounting foundation strongly preferred.
- 10+ years of progressive accounting experience, including as Controller or Assistant Controller in a SaaS company.
- Demonstrated success in a private equity-backed environment, ideally during periods of scale.
- Proven experience with supporting the translation of GAAP reporting to Management Account Reporting in partnership with Strategic Finance.
- Deep understanding of SaaS business models, revenue recognition (ASC 606), and complex order-to-cash environments.
- Proven experience leading finance transformation initiatives and system implementations (e.g., ERP, CPQ, billing).
- Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
- Desire to scale and mature an accounting function in a rapidly changing business environment.
- Experience in EdTech a plus, but not required.
