As a key member of the Learning Team, the Lead Trainer will oversee all training activities within the region, ensuring the delivery of engaging and effective learning experiences. This role involves organizing customer training sessions, tracking training metrics and success, and tailoring training programs to meet customer needs through thorough needs analyses.
The Lead Trainer will also play a pivotal role in our Academic Education Initiatives, leading efforts in our University Partnership Program by identifying key academic partners and delivering appropriate training materials to support their educational objectives.
They should possess excellent customer-facing and communication skills, ensuring effective engagement with clients and stakeholders. The ability to thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced environment is essential, as this role requires adaptability to evolving challenges and opportunities. A professional, proactive, and adaptable approach is key to success, enabling the candidate to take initiative, work efficiently under pressure, and contribute positively to the team and organization.
Responsibilities:
- Deliver Training Sessions: Conduct training sessions, both in-person and virtually, to educate clients on the functionalities, features, and best practices.
- Develop Training Materials: Create engaging and effective training materials, including presentations, guides, tutorials, and interactive modules, tailored to the needs of diverse audiences.
- Academic Outreach & Partnership Development: Proactively engage with academic institutions to enroll them in our Academic Partnership Program, providing access to PLEXOS and Aurora to support research and education.
- Monthly Academic Forum Support: Lead and facilitate the Monthly Academic Forum, addressing inquiries, providing solutions, and fostering a collaborative knowledge-sharing environment.
- CLM Administrator Responsibilities: Oversee license management for PLEXOS software, ensuring seamless administration and uninterrupted access for users.
- Create Customize Training Programs: Analyze clients' requirements and customize training programs to address specific needs and goals, ensuring a personalized learning experience.
- Provide Technical Support: Offer technical support and assistance to clients during training sessions, addressing inquiries, troubleshooting issues, and providing solutions promptly.
- Collect Feedback and Evaluate Training Effectiveness: Gather feedback from clients to assess the effectiveness of training programs and identify areas for improvement, refining training materials and methodologies accordingly.
- Stay Abreast of Industry Trends: Keep abreast of industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies related to software training and instructional design, incorporating innovative approaches into training programs.
- Ability to Travel: This role could travel in the APAC region regularly to train customers and globally on occasion for conferences. Ability to travel 25% of the time.
Qualifications, Skills & Experiences
- Proven experience as a technical trainer or software educator, preferably in a technology company or software development environment.
- Bachelor’s or Master's degree: Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field
- 3+ years of experience in the energy markets, energy market modelling
- Experience teaching, training, and delivering technical education sessions
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to research and learn new techniques
- Strong presentation, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively convey complex technical concepts to diverse audiences.
- Knowledge of fundamental energy market analysis, capacity markets, environmental markets, demand side management/energy efficiency, electric utility resource planning approaches
- Demonstrated working knowledge of SaaS products and experience troubleshooting issues with Cloud offerings
- Demonstrated capability of effectively communicating complex ideas and analysis verbally, in document format (Word), and in presentation format (Power Point).
- Experience with computer and database management languages such as VBA, Python and SQL
- Working knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, etc.)
- Experience with power market production cost and expansion planning models
