About the Position

As a Team Leader – Business Development EMEA , you’ll not only drive new business but also lead and coach a team of Business Development Representatives (BDRs), contributing directly to Energy Exemplar’s continued growth and commercial success across EMEA. This is a player-coach role — you'll own your own pipeline while also supporting, mentoring, and managing a small but high-performing team.

You will report to the Director – Commercial Operations, and work closely with regional Sales Directors, Sales Executives, Customer Success Teams and  Marketing, and other cross-functional teams. The role requires a strong sales acumen, strategic mindset, and a passion for team leadership.

Responsibilities

Sales Execution & Pipeline Development

  • Identify, generate, and qualify leads to build a robust pipeline of qualified corporate prospects
  • Execute strategic outreach campaigns via calls, email, and social media
  • Conduct market research to identify new target segments within energy and adjacent sectors
  • Deliver compelling online presentations and represent Energy Exemplar at relevant industry events
  • Qualify inbound and outbound leads using methodologies like BANT, SPIN, and MEDDIC
  • Manage your own set of strategic prospects and opportunities to successful conversion

Team Leadership

  • Manage, mentor, and support a team of Business Development Representatives (BDRs)
  • Provide regular coaching on outreach techniques, tools, messaging, and pipeline management
  • Track and report on team performance metrics using Salesforce, HubSpot, or equivalent CRMs
  • Foster a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement within the team
  • Assist in hiring, onboarding, and training new team members as the team scales

Cross-functional Collaboration

  • Work closely with Account Executives to align BD efforts with regional go-to-market strategies
  • Coordinate with Marketing to ensure campaign alignment and lead quality
  • Provide feedback on messaging, market trends, and campaign effectiveness

 

Candidate Requirements & Qualifications

  • Degree educated (preferred)
  • Proven success in B2B software sales or business development, ideally within SaaS or energy sectors
  • Prior experience in a leadership or mentorship capacity within a sales or BD team
  • Strong CRM proficiency (Salesforce, HubSpot, ZoomInfo, etc.)
  • Familiarity with LinkedIn Sales Navigator and outbound tools
  • Strong analytical skills and Excel proficiency for tracking KPIs and team performance
  • Experience creating or contributing to sales outreach content and strategy
  • Knowledge of PLEXOS or experience in the energy software space (a plus)
  • Proficiency in French, Arabic, or other European languages (a plus)
