Remote - US

Interested in joining a growing company where you will work with talented colleagues, enhance a supportive and energetic culture, and be part of the climate solution? At Energy Solutions, we focus on the big impacts. And we believe that market-based programs can be a powerful force to deliver large-scale energy, carbon, and water-use savings. Since 1995, we’ve harnessed that power to offer proven, performance-based solutions for our utility, government, and institutional customers.

Are you looking for hands-on experience in a wide-reaching business role? Are you excited about gaining direct insight into emerging opportunities related to climate mitigation? The Business Strategy Internship may be for you!

In this full-time position (30-40 hrs/week), you'll have a wide reach across the Business Strategy Team (BST) supporting the day-to-day work of the Pilots team, the Products team, and the Environmental Social Justice team. In collaboration with your supervisor, you'll advance knowledge in emerging technology business opportunities related to high-impact technologies and policies through research and interviews with industry professionals and Subject Matter Experts (SMEs). Your deliverables will include an evaluation matrix, a report including all findings, and an overall presentation to the BST with findings, which will expose you to high-ranking decision-makers in the department. The work provides an exciting opportunity to influence both current and future Energy Solutions programs. Throughout the internship, you will also gain insight into projects and departments beyond your own due to BST’s inherently collaborative nature.

Due to the scope of this role, you may touch on multiple projects. Project opportunities include:

  • Research technology and program/policy to determine opportunities that align with Energy Solutions' capacity and goals
  • Interview Energy Solutions staff, SMEs, and external stakeholders to deep-dive into individual technology types in the energy efficiency space
  • Report out on findings to internal stakeholders and adapt project goals as necessary

To enable your success, we are seeking candidates with these qualifications:

  • Basic Microsoft Excel skills
  • Experience gathering, tracking, and sorting data
  • Ability to work independently and collaborate with a variety of teams
  • Data Analysis skill or knowledge of the Energy Efficiency industry a plus

Compensation:

  • Undergraduate student: $21/hr

As a government contractor subject to the Vietnam Era Veterans Readjustment Assistance Act (VEVRAA), we request this information in order to measure the effectiveness of the outreach and positive recruitment efforts we undertake pursuant to VEVRAA. Classification of protected categories is as follows:

A "disabled veteran" is one of the following: a veteran of the U.S. military, ground, naval or air service who is entitled to compensation (or who but for the receipt of military retired pay would be entitled to compensation) under laws administered by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs; or a person who was discharged or released from active duty because of a service-connected disability.

OMB Control Number 1250-0005
Expires 04/30/2026

Why are you being asked to complete this form?

We are a federal contractor or subcontractor. The law requires us to provide equal employment opportunity to qualified people with disabilities. We have a goal of having at least 7% of our workers as people with disabilities. The law says we must measure our progress towards this goal. To do this, we must ask applicants and employees if they have a disability or have ever had one. People can become disabled, so we need to ask this question at least every five years.

Completing this form is voluntary, and we hope that you will choose to do so. Your answer is confidential. No one who makes hiring decisions will see it. Your decision to complete the form and your answer will not harm you in any way. If you want to learn more about the law or this form, visit the U.S. Department of Labor’s Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP) website at www.dol.gov/ofccp.
