Your Mission:
As part of the Engine team, you’ll play a vital role in an environment where innovation meets collaboration. Here’s what you’ll take charge of:
- Develop and enforce security policies for data governance, including implementation of data classification, contingency planning, retention/destruction, access controls, authentication, and encryption.
- Conduct security audits and risk assessments for databases, identifying and facilitating remediation of database vulnerabilities, and ensuring regular patching and updating of database technologies.
- Conduct regular access reviews and enforce least privilege access across all data storage and handling environments.
- Ensure compliance with GDPR and similar data privacy legislation.
- Implement Data Loss Prevention (DLP) solutions across various platforms and technologies.
What You’ll Bring to Engine:
We’re looking for someone who’s ready to make an impact and grow alongside us:
- Experience with instituting and managing a data governance program.
- Strong knowledge of database management concepts including schemas, queries, and constraints across popular database platforms (e.g., MySQL, PostgreSQL, Snowflake, Databricks, BigQuery).
- Experience with database activity monitoring (DAM) tools (e.g., Imperva, Varonis, Vormetric).
- Understanding of encryption, authentication, and access management best practices.
- Knowledge of cloud security for databases in cloud environments.
- Proven track record of driving and enforcing a data classification program.
- Ability to manage complex data protection initiatives and work across multiple teams.
- Experience with compliance and privacy frameworks (e.g., CCPA, GDPR).
- Experience with data mapping and management tools such as Airbyte, DBT, and Looker.
- Data governance certification such as CDMP.
- Familiarity with cloud security services and resources in platforms like AWS, GCP, or Azure.
- Ability to handle urgent situations and effectively manage IT incidents.
- Excellent problem-solving, analytical, communication, and program management skills.
- A passion for mentoring others.
