Your Mission:
As part of the accounting team at Engine, you’ll play a vital role in scaling our financial operations and supporting our growth trajectory. Here’s what you’ll take charge of:

• Lead accounting operations: Oversee multiple areas of the general ledger, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting while building scalable processes for a growing company.
• Develop and manage a high-performing team: Foster growth within the accounting team, ensuring alignment across functions and driving operational excellence as we scale.
• Drive process improvements: Identify inefficiencies and implement automation to optimize workflows and increase the scalability of financial operations.
• Collaborate cross-functionally: Partner with product, finance, data, and other teams to align accounting with the overall business strategy and support key decision-making.
• Optimize month-end and year-end close: Lead the scaling of month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring accuracy, speed, and reliability as the company grows.
• Ensure compliance and audit readiness: Manage financial controls and work with external auditors to ensure the company remains compliant with US GAAP, SEC reporting, and technical accounting standards.
• Influence financial strategy: Use financial insights to influence decision-making at the executive level, providing actionable recommendations that drive business outcomes.
• Adapt to ambiguity: Build structure in evolving environments, helping to define processes in a rapidly growing and changing company.

What You’ll Bring to Engine:
We’re looking for someone who’s ready to make an impact and grow alongside us:

• Experience: 7+ years of hands-on experience in accounting; with experience in a fast-paced, high-growth company, with broad general ledger expertise and familiarity with scaling accounting functions.
• Leadership & Collaboration: 3+ years of demonstrated experience managing and developing teams in a scaling environment. Proven track record of cross-functional collaboration with finance, product, data, operations, and external partners.
• Problem-Solving & Change Management: Strong ability to identify inefficiencies, drive process improvements, and implement scalable financial solutions to support a growing organization.
• Tech-Savvy: Bonus points if you’re fluent in NetSuite, Oracle, SAP, Workday, or similar ERP platforms, and have experience with accounting automation tools (e.g., Looker, Tableau, Power BI, or FloQast).
• Mindset: Comfortable navigating ambiguity and change, with a willingness to roll up your sleeves and lead teams to deliver results in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
• Big-Picture Thinking: Strong analytical skills with the ability to provide strategic insights while diving into data and operational details to improve business outcomes.
