About Engine
Engine is on a mission to transform how travel is booked and experienced. As we scale rapidly, we're seeking a Director of Strategic Finance to shape our capital allocation, commercial economics, and the frameworks that drive executive decision-making. This is not traditional FP&A — this is the connective tissue between Finance, GTM, Operations, and Product that turns data into action, and action into ROI.
About the Role
In this role, you will lead a team of strategic finance managers and analysts to build and operationalize the decision frameworks that unlock growth — influencing how we deploy capital and reach new levels of scale. You’ll drive the financial architecture behind new products, strategic initiatives, and the commercial machine — and translate those into compounding ROI.
What You’ll Own and Lead
Capital Allocation & Strategic Investment Decisions
- Set and enforce the financial guardrails for investment decisions across new products, partnerships, and GTM motions. Build the frameworks that determine where we place incremental dollars — and the hurdle rates we hold the business accountable to.
Commercial Economics & Performance Levers
- Own the economic engine — CAC/LTV, payback, contribution margin, pricing strategy — and drive cross-company alignment on the levers that accelerate profitable growth.
Executive & Board-Level Storytelling
- Co-own the narrative with the CFO — architecting insights, frameworks, and recommendations for the CEO, ELT, and Board — translating complexity into clarity and action.
Forecasting & Modeling Architecture
- Own and evolve high-impact financial models (e.g., revenue forecast, partnerships ROI, CAC payback) that inform quarterly targets, hiring plans, and investment decisions.
Operating Cadence & Accountability
- Create the review rhythms that drive accountability — cross-functional target setting, monthly/quarterly business reviews, strategic initiative tracking, and performance reviews that drive actual prioritization.
What You’ll Bring
- 7–10+ years across Strategic Finance, Growth Finance, Corporate Strategy, Investment Banking, PE, or a similar environment; ideally with GTM + fintech / SaaS exposure.
- Demonstrated ownership of capital allocation, commercial economics, and investment frameworks.
- Executive presence with a sharp POV; ability to pressure-test assumptions and drive decision clarity with C-suite and functional heads.
- Team builder: track record managing managers / analysts, developing talent, and scaling teams that ship high-quality thinking.
- Systems + tooling: deep modeling fluency and experience driving insight from systems like Salesforce, Looker, Adaptive/Anaplan/Mosaic.
Applications for this role will be accepted through 1/30/2026 or until the role is filled. We encourage you to apply early, as we may begin reviewing applications before the deadline
