Your Mission:

The Sr. Total Rewards Specialist plays a key role in managing and optimizing the company’s benefits programs, with an emphasis on administering and analyzing our self-funded health plan. This role ensures our programs are competitive, cost-effective, and aligned with employee needs and organizational goals. In addition to leading benefits initiatives, the position serves as a backup resource for compensation activities such as job evaluations, market benchmarking, and annual pay cycles.

This team member will serve as the primary point of contact for benefits vendors, brokers, and employees, driving operational excellence and a strong employee experience.

Key Responsibilities:

Benefits Administration & Strategy 

  • Lead day-to-day administration of all employee benefit programs, including medical, dental, vision, disability, life, and voluntary offerings within a self-funded environment.
  • Partner with brokers and third-party administrators (TPAs) to manage renewals, claims escalations, compliance filings, and performance reviews.
  • Monitor and analyze plan performance, utilization trends, and cost drivers; provide recommendations to optimize program efficiency and employee value.
  • Oversee open enrollment, including employee communications and coordination with vendors and internal stakeholders.
  • Ensure compliance with ERISA, ACA, COBRA, HIPAA, and other relevant regulations.
  • Lead employee education and communication efforts to increase understanding and engagement with benefits offerings.
  • Evaluate new benefits and wellness opportunities that align with company culture and support retention and engagement goals.

Support annual audits, filings (e.g., 5500s), and reporting requirements.

  • Optimize leave of absence process to provide clarity to employees. 

Serve as the escalation point for complex employee benefits inquiries and claims resolution.

Compensation Support:

  • Partner with the Sr. Compensation Analyst and People Partners during annual compensation cycles (merit, bonus, and market adjustment updates).
  • Provide support for job evaluations, market pricing, and survey participation.
  • Help ensure pay practices remain consistent and compliant across locations and roles.

What You’ll Bring to Engine:
We’re looking for someone who’s ready to make an impact and grow alongside us:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 5–8+ years of experience in benefits administration, with at least 3 years managing or working with self-funded medical plans.
  • Strong understanding of benefits regulations (ERISA, ACA, COBRA, HIPAA, FMLA).
  • Experience managing vendor relationships and evaluating plan performance through data and analytics.
  • Excellent communication skills; ability to explain complex benefits concepts clearly to employees and leadership.
  • Analytical and detail-oriented, with the ability to balance strategy and execution.
  • Familiarity with compensation fundamentals (market pricing, job architecture, salary structures) preferred but not required.

Compensation
Our compensation packages are based on several factors, including your experience, expertise, and location. In addition to a competitive base salary, total compensation may include equity and/or variable pay (OTE). Your recruiter will share your complete compensation package as you move through the process.

Base Pay Range

$90,000 - $120,000 USD
