About the Role
Engine is at a major inflection point. We have a proven product, a massive unlimited growth ceiling, and a leadership team that is moving beyond standard performance plays. As the Director of Performance, you won’t just be managing a budget; you’ll be given the keys to a high-velocity experimentation engine. Your mandate is to build the technical and creative framework that directly moves the needle on our entire company valuation by driving new customer growth and gross booking volume.
Your Mission
You will lead the Performance team with an experimentation-first mindset, utilizing both paid and owned channels to scale Engine’s Go-To-Market (GTM) influence. You will be responsible for staying ahead of tactics in existing channels while aggressively discovering and scaling new ones.
Key Responsibilities
- Drive Growth: Own the strategy for acquiring new customers and driving revenue through paid, stunt, and experimental channels.
- High-Velocity Experimentation: Lead a test-driven team (currently including paid social and paid search) to find 10x wins within existing and new channels.
- Technical Sophistication: Build a true "source of truth" for measurement and attribution, moving beyond platform-reported data to focus on incrementality and long-term LTV.
- Stunt Programs: Design and ship high-impact, disruptive "stunt" programs that go beyond traditional digital duopolies to capture market attention.
- Cross-Functional Influence: Work closely with Product, Brand, ABM, and Influencer teams to align messaging and influence the onboarding funnel based on performance data.
- Agency Management: Oversee our agency partners, specifically for large-scale media buying (Linear, Connected TV), while bridging the strategic gap internally.
Qualifications
- Proven Leadership: Extensive experience in performance marketing management with a clear track record of hitting successful metrics.
- Hands-on Data Expertise: You are comfortable diving deep into challenging data problems and using tools like Looker to inform strategy.
- Test-Driven Mentality: You have a maturity around test development, leading/lagging indicators, and managing experiment velocity.
- Strategic Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to be assertive and personable when working with key stakeholders.
- Tech Stack Proficiency: Experience with Meta, Google, Pinterest, TikTok, Reddit, Webflow, and Propensity.
Compensation
Our compensation packages are based on several factors, including your experience, expertise, and location. In addition to a competitive base salary, total compensation may include equity and/or variable pay (OTE). Your recruiter will share your complete compensation package as you move through the process.
Base Pay Range
$158,015 - $218,700 USD
