We believe the future of travel should be seamless and powered by technology that delights customers at every step. That’s why we’re building a platform that brings together corporate travel, a powerful charge card, and modern spend management in one place.

To make this vision real, we’re looking for exceptional, mission-driven people to help redefine how businesses manage and experience travel.

More than 20,000 companies already rely on Engine to support over 1 million travelers and billions in annual bookings each year. Cash flow positive with rapid growth, we pair exclusive Engine-only rates, industry-leading rewards, and intelligent automation to help businesses save money while delivering world-class personalization and convenience.

Backed by Telescope Partners, Blackstone, and Permira, Engine has been recognized as one of the fastest-growing travel and fintech platforms in North America, with honors including the Deloitte Fast 500 and Built In’s Best Places to Work.

Your Mission

Our infrastructure charter is simple: “we empower feature teams to build the features they need, the way they choose, fast.” As Senior Engineering Manager for the Infrastructure team, you’ll own the platform that makes this real. That means world-class build pipelines, a Terraform-based cloud foundation, disciplined AWS account organization, and cost optimization strategies that keep us moving without burning cash. You’ll be building the developer leverage that lets every other team at Engine ship faster and more confidently. You’ll lead a high-performing team of infrastructure engineers, setting technical direction, hiring top talent, and partnering closely with feature teams to understand what they need to move fast.

What You’ll Own

  • Design and evolve Engine’s CI/CD and build pipeline infrastructure to maximize developer velocity and reliability across all teams.
  • Own our Terraform-based infrastructure, defining standards, module libraries, and guardrails that feature teams can build on with confidence.
  • Lead AWS account organization and governance:   account vending, IAM strategy, tagging standards, and Control Tower or equivalent structures.
  • Drive cloud cost optimization:   establishing visibility through tagging and reporting, managing reservations and savings plans, and finding actionable savings opportunities.
  • Build the self-service developer tooling and internal platforms that let feature teams provision what they need without waiting on infra.
  • Hire, mentor, and develop a team of infrastructure engineers; set clear expectations, provide growth opportunities, and drive high performance.
  • Define and execute a technical roadmap that balances short-term execution with long-term platform strategy.
  • Partner cross-functionally with product, security, and feature engineering teams to align infrastructure investments with business priorities.

What You''ll Bring

Experience

8+ years as a software engineer, infrastructure engineer, or DevOps engineer, with at least 3 years leading and managing infrastructure or platform teams. Proven track record of hiring and developing engineers, running agile delivery processes, and owning a technical roadmap from strategy through execution.

Core Technical Skills

  • Build Pipelines & CI/CD: Deep expertise designing and operating CI/CD platforms (GitHub Actions, BuildKite, Jenkins, or similar) and artifact management. You know what makes a build pipeline fast, reliable, and developer-friendly.
  • Infrastructure as Code / Terraform: Expert-level Terraform, including module design, state management, and IaC patterns at scale.
  • AWS Account Organization : Hands-on experience with AWS Organizations, Control Tower, IAM strategy, account vending, and governance guardrails across multi-account environments.
  • Cost Optimization : Experience establishing cloud cost visibility (tagging, reporting, unit economics), managing savings plans and reservations, and partnering with finance and engineering on FinOps practices.
  • Developer Experience : Track record building internal developer platforms, self-service tooling, or golden paths that reduce friction for product engineering teams.
  • Observability: Working knowledge of logging, metrics, alerting, and tracing to ensure platform reliability.
  • Containerization (Nice to Have) : Familiarity with Docker; Kubernetes experience is a bonus but not a primary focus for this role.

Mindset

You’re a results-driven leader who takes ownership of outcomes and helps teams focus and execute. You communicate clearly, manage stakeholders effectively, and build consensus without losing momentum. You lead by example with high standards and a practical approach to tradeoffs: and you’re genuinely energized by making other engineers’ lives better.

If you’ll require Engine to commence, i.e., “sponsor,” an immigration or work permit case in order to employ you, either now or at some point in the future, then you should answer yes. An example of an immigration or work permit case that may require sponsorship now or in the future would be an H-1B or other employment-based work permit sponsorship.
