Operations Associate

The Operations Associate, as part of a global Trading and Operations team, will support trade flow, position and P&L reconciliations, security master updates, data warehouse maintenance, corporate action processing, financing reconciliation, and assist with global trading support. The Operations Associate will work directly with teammates and constituents spanning across internal teams and external counterparties to ensure that operational processes are running effectively and efficiently.

This role requires speed, accuracy and skill in the face of complexity and is ideal for a candidate with strong organizational, follow-up and communication skills. Key Responsibilities

  • London working hours will typically involve starting between 6 -7am BST/GMT when assisting with general support. When training and covering live trade support, the workday will start around 4:45am BST/GMT.
  • Covering live trade support (4:45am BST/GMT shift) will occur:
    • When providing vital backup coverage to the live trading support shift. Backup coverage is needed for both planned and unexpected out of office coverage. Such responsibility requires constant proactive training in order to be able to cover with little notice in case of emergency.
    • As the firm increases global trading and needs another team member to cover the 4:45am BST/GMT shift more permanently.
  • Live trading coverage (4:45am BST/GMT shift) includes, but is not limited to:
    • Live monitoring across dozens of strategies each trading different asset classes
    • Monitoring orders, fills, rejects, limit breaches, compliance alerts, etc.
    • Monitoring and executing rolls for futures and FX trading strategies
    • Maintaining and monitoring the firm’s centralized positions, prices and P&L for live reporting and for the data warehouse
  • Processing beginning of day (BOD) positions, corporate actions, security master changes, etc.
  • Reconciling and resolving breaks for all asset classes, including equities, futures and FX
  • Reconciling positions, P&L and financing on a daily basis
  • Chasing executing brokers and counterparties for any firm-wide breaks across asset classes
  • Coordinating with fund administrator, prime brokers, counterparties, and vendors
  • Maintaining and improving highly automated processes to maximize operating efficiency
  • Facilitating ad hoc requests from teammates, PM teams and across all internal teams

Required Skills, Qualifications and Experience

  • 2-5 years of finance experience working with credit and fixed income products.
  • University degree or directly transferrable and applicable professional experience
  • Ability to work collaboratively and communicate effectively
  • Ability to work efficiently and quickly
  • Ability to follow internal controls and policies
