About The Role 

We are seeking a Risk Engineer to join our Risk Management team. This role is ideal for someone early in their career with strong Python skills who wants to grow technically while gaining exposure to the world of quantitative finance.  

Your primary responsibility will be to contribute to our in-house Python-based risk management package including building new features, improving performance, maintaining existing modules, and ensuring code quality. Over time, you'll also learn about portfolio risk models, optimization, and how our risk systems support trading.  

This is an exciting opportunity to start with hands-on coding while gradually building specialized knowledge in risk management and quantitative investing. 

Key Responsibilities 

• Contribute to our Python risk management package: Write clean, maintainable code to enhance, test, and support our internal risk library. 

• Collaborate with the team: Implement requirements from risk managers and senior developers into software solutions. 

• Collaborate across Engineers Gate: Partner with Portfolio Managers, Operations, and other technologists to deliver high-quality solutions that integrate seamlessly into the firm's broader technology and investment platform. 

• Learn by doing: Gain exposure to advanced risk models (e.g., Barra, Axioma), portfolio construction, and alternative data as you grow into the role. 

• Work in a modern tech environment: Linux-first, cloud-based systems with diverse databases and storage.  

• Develop best practices: Code reviewing, testing, version control, CI/CD pipelines. 

Qualifications 

• Strong Python programming skills with attention to clean, maintainable code.  

• 1–3 years' professional experience as a software engineer  

• Solid problem-solving ability, with good analytical and debugging skills.  

• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.  

• Self-motivated, eager to learn, and comfortable in a fast-paced environment.  

The base salary for this role is anticipated to be $120,000–$150,000, excluding potential bonuses, additional compensation, and benefits. Actual compensation will depend on various factors including skills, experience, and qualifications.
