LAPORTE is seeking a Mechanical Engineer, specializing in HVAC and Building Systems with 3 to 10 years of experience in mechanical system design. This hybrid position is available in the following Canadian office locations: Vancouver (BC), Calgary (AB), Edmonton (AB), Lethbridge (AB), or Saskatoon (SK). The role involves designing, managing, and supervising HVAC, plumbing, drainage, refrigeration, and fire protection projects in building and industrial environments, including light industrial, food and beverage, and pharmaceutical facilities.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop designs, mechanical drawings, specifications, project schedules, and budgets;
  • Work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary design team;
  • Provide mentorship and technical guidance to junior technical personnel;
  • Support project management requirements, including budgeting, scheduling, and client communication;
  • Provide construction supervision, conduct document and field reviews for assigned projects;
  • Foster positive client interactions and support business development activities, including proposal preparation;
  • Prepare and conduct presentations to clients.

Key Requirements:

  • P.Eng registration in BC and/or AB;
  • BS or MS degree in Mechanical Engineering;
  • 3 to 10 years of experience in building and industrial HVAC, plumbing, drainage, refrigeration, steam, hot water, and fire protection system design;
  • Experience in process engineering for light industrial, food and beverage, or pharmaceutical facilities (an asset);
  • Knowledge of relevant industry codes and regulations;
  • Ability to travel to client sites in Canada and the USA;
  • Familiarity with lean manufacturing and food safety standards (an asset).
