LAPORTE is seeking a dynamic Construction Manager with extensive experience in construction project management, particularly within the food production industry, to join our innovative team. As a Construction Manager, you will lead impactful engineering and construction projects from concept to completion, ensuring successful outcomes that align with client goals and industry standards.

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Lead and Drive Projects: Plan, organize, direct, and evaluate high-impact construction projects from start to finish, ensuring completion on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards;
  • Collaborate Across Disciplines: Work closely with the capital works manager and engineering teams to define project scope and align goals with broader business objectives;
  • Create Winning Proposals: Develop comprehensive business proposals, integrating design elements, detailed OPCC forecasts, and ROI projections while ensuring safety records meet industry best practices;
  • Ensure Design Excellence: Monitor design schedules daily, ensuring every project stage reflects the client’s vision and technical requirements;
  • Oversee Project Execution: Manage all aspects of project accounting, from issuing purchase orders to final billing and closure, ensuring financial accuracy and accountability;
  • Optimize Construction Workflows: Supervise on-site operations, ensuring compliance with project plans and specifications, while leading troubleshooting, process optimization, and continuous improvement initiatives;
  • Be a Catalyst for Change: Identify and seize opportunities for site optimization, resolving challenges to enhance project performance and drive efficiency;
  • Deliver Results: Oversee construction progress, including shop drawing reviews, site meetings, change notices, and final inspections, ensuring seamless start-up and commissioning.

Key Requirements:

  • Extensive experience in construction management related to electrical, mechanical, process mechanical, structural, civil, and controls in the food production industry (mandatory);
  • Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills;
  • Proven experience in leading design projects, managing proposals, conducting on-site commissioning, and overseeing power system studies in a fast-paced environment;
  • Strong knowledge of local, provincial, and national regulations and industry standards;
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes and equipment in the food and beverage, biopharmaceutical, or medical device industries (an asset);
  • BS or MS degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering (current registration as P.Eng. is an asset).
