LAPORTE is seeking a highly technical Mechanical, EIT. This position is based in Vancouver, BC, and focuses on building system design in, pharmaceutical, industrial biotechnological, and food & beverage industries. Our Mechanical, EIT will be responsible for designing and supporting essential building and plant utilities, including HVAC, chillers, boilers, and various mechanical systems, while collaborating with cross-functional teams.
Responsibilities and Duties:
- Participate in client needs analysis and project definition;
- Participation with the team in the Design of building, laboratory and plant utilities, including:
- HVAC systems;
- Plumbing systems (drainage, water distribution, emergency showers, etc.);
- Compressed air systems;
- Boiler, steam & condensate
- Hydronic systems (heating and cooling systems);
- Chiller;
- Building controls
- Prepare drawings,specifications and cost estimation;
- Evaluate and select equipment, technologies, and suppliers;
- Work collaboratively as part of a multi-disciplinary design team;
- Provide construction supervision, conduct document and field reviews for assigned projects;
- Support project management requirements;
- Supervise equipment installation, start-up, and qualification;
- Visit project sites for information gathering and project-related activities.
Key Requirements:
- Technical support and troubleshooting skills;
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Attention to detail and accuracy;
- Proficiency in AutoCAD and/or Revit (an asset);
- Being registered as an EIT of EGBC (and APEGA, an asset)
- Experience in consulting engineering (an asset);
- Experience in designing plant utilities for light industrial, food and beverage, or pharmaceutical facilities (an asset);
- Knowledge of relevant industry codes and regulations.
- Knowledge of pipe stress analysis and process piping design (an asset);
- Ability to travel to client sites in Canada and the USA when required.
- Strong ability to work in a team environment;
- Sense of organization and discipline.
