Who are you

We are looking for a motivated Engineering Manager to join our DevOps and Cloud team based in Lisbon. The Engineering Manager – CloudOps is responsible for leading, coaching and enabling a team of Cloud and Platform engineers, while ensuring reliable, secure and cost‑effective delivery of cloud infrastructure and platform services. This role combines people leadership with delivery management and cross‑team coordination. The Engineering Manager acts as the primary point of accountability for execution, prioritization and delivery within CloudOps, in close collaboration with other Engineering Managers and stakeholders across the organization. The Engineering Manager is expected to actively contribute to work prioritization, roadmap definition and stakeholder alignment, balancing operational excellence with strategic initiatives.

The main responsibilities of the successful candidate include:

People leadership:

  • Lead, coach and mentor a team of CloudOps engineers, supporting individual growth, performance and career development.
  • Foster a culture of ownership, accountability, continuous improvement and psychological safety.
  • Conduct regular 1:1s, performance reviews and feedback cycles.
  • Support hiring, onboarding and team scaling when required.

Delivery and execution:

  • Own the delivery of CloudOps initiatives, ensuring commitments are met in terms of scope, quality and timelines.
  • Identify, manage and resolve delivery risks, dependencies and impediments.
  • Ensure clear visibility of priorities, progress and tradeoffs for stakeholders.

Planning, prioritization and ways of working:

  • Define and maintain the team roadmap in alignment with the Platform Engineering strategy.
  • Translate business and technical needs into executable initiatives and backlog items.
  • Organize and facilitate team ceremonies (planning, refinements, retrospectives, syncs), adapting Agile practices pragmatically to the team’s context.
  • Continuously improve team processes, flow and predictability.

Technical and cross team collaboration:

  • Work closely with senior engineers and architects to guide technical direction and decision making.
  • Ensure platform and cloud solutions are scalable, secure, reliable and cost efficient.
  • Collaborate with other Engineering Managers and engineering teams to align priorities, manage dependencies and enable smooth delivery across teams.
  • Act as a bridge between technical teams and non technical stakeholders, clearly communicating risks, constraints and outcomes.

Operational excellence:

  • Ensure high standards in cloud operations, including availability, security, monitoring, incident management and cost management.
  • Promote automation, self service and platform enablement to reduce operational overhead and increase developer autonomy.
  • Support continuous improvement of CloudOps practices, tooling and governance.

What can you bring to the table?

Education: Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Computer Science, or a related field (typically 4 years).

Experience: Proven experience as an Engineering Manager, Tech Lead or similar leadership role in cloud, platform or infrastructure teams.

Key requirements:

  • Proficiency in Agile methodologies, particularly kanban or scrum.
  • Experience with software development lifecycle and project management.
  • Previous experience managing cloud platforms (preferably Azure), infrastructure and platform engineering concepts.
  • Strong delivery mindset, with experience managing priorities, dependencies and execution across teams.
  • Ability to operate effectively, taking ownership of prioritization and stakeholder alignment.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to translate complex technical topics to diverse audiences.
  • Fluency in English. Other languages are an asset.
