Creative Strategy Lead - Copy (Hybrid)

Chicago, IL

We are interested in every qualified candidate who is eligible to work in the United States. However, we are not able to sponsor visas or take over sponsorship at this time.

About the Role

This is a high-ownership role at the center of how Enova Studios uses data to shape creative work. We're rapidly evolving how we deliver content across the business, and we need a creative strategy lead who can build the bridge between performance insight and creative execution. You'll report to and partner closely with the Associate Creative Director, bringing a data-driven lens that complements the ACD's storytelling and craft leadership. Together you'll set creative strategy, surface risks and drive the strategic roadmap for the copy team. You'll be the connective tissue between Enova Studios and our marketing and business teams, bringing back what's working and translating it into stronger creative across OnDeck, CashNetUSA and NetCredit.

About Enova Studios

Enova Studios is the in-house creative agency for Enova's small business and consumer lending brands: OnDeck, NetCredit, CashNetUSA, Simplic and more. We bring Creative, Content, Code and UX capabilities together under one roof. Leveraging deep brand knowledge, cross-functional relationships and strategic context, we turn customer insights into work that drives real results.

About You

You've built a career in copy and creative, but these days you're more interested in why the work performs than how it reads. You know what makes people click, apply or scroll past, and you can back it up with data. You understand how creative teams work and where good strategy gets diluted in production, which is why you're the one who brings the numbers into the room and turns them into ideas a copy team can run with.If you're energized by connecting performance data to creative decisions and raising the bar for a copy team, this role could be a great fit.

What You'll Do

You'll own the creative strategy behind Enova's portfolio of brands and the loop that connects performance data to the work. Storytelling sits inside that loop: you'll define the story from the data, then manage and coach a small team of copywriters to tell it well.

  • Insight in: Pull performance data and business insights from marketing and channel partners.
  • Strategy set: Turn insight into the narrative and messaging direction.
  • Coach execution: Guide writers to bring that story to life, editing for both craft and strategic fit.
  • Measures back: Absorb results, learn what worked and feed it into the next brief.
  • Insight to Creative: Partner with marketing and business teams to gather performance results, customer insights and channel learnings, then translate them into creative strategy, briefs and recommendations. Give creative leadership a clear view of what's working, what isn't and what to prioritize next.
  • Testing Strategy: Work with channel owners and marketers to develop testing strategies and learning agendas. Shape concepts built to be tested, iterated and scaled, and feed results into the next round of work.
  • Creative & Brand Strategy: Ground campaigns in clear strategic pillars and messaging frameworks across channels, keeping each brand distinctive and on-voice.
  • Paid Social Evolution: Drive how we build paid social campaigns partnering with design, marketing and business teams to concept ideas from the ground up and optimize them based on performance.
  • Team Leadership: Manage and mentor a small team of copywriters, using data and AI tools to sharpen and accelerate their work. Own team processes and resources and evolve how the team operates as needs change.
  • Hands-On Contribution: Step in on high-priority work when needed, whether that's shaping a concept or pressure-testing a headline against what the data says.
  • Stakeholder Communication: Present strategic recommendations clearly and persuasively, using data to make the case and keep creative and business priorities aligned.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of experience in creative strategy, content strategy, or copywriting leadership
  • Experience using performance marketing data to shape creative strategy and testing
  • Experience working in a highly regulated industry, preferably banking or financial services
  • Proven experience operating across both strategy and creative execution
  • Strong copywriting and editing skills, with a portfolio that shows conceptual thinking and results
  • Direct experience managing, mentoring, and developing copywriters or creative team members
  • Comfort with tools such as Asana, Figma, Adobe Analytics, Meta Ads Manager and Snowflake

Competencies

  • Analytical Storytelling: Frame a problem, uncover the insight, and translate data into a narrative that moves people to act.
  • Test-and-Learn Mindset: Treat creative as a hypothesis, design tests with channel partners and let results shape what comes next.
  • Strategic Range: Operate from campaign pillar down to headline and know which altitude a given problem needs.
  • Collaborative Leadership: Develop writers and build frameworks that keep a team's output consistent without flattening it.
  • AI Fluency: Use AI tools such as Claude and ChatGPT to accelerate ideation and execution, sharpen concepts, and streamline how a team works, including ownership of existing messaging and copy bots.
  • Cultural Fluency A genuine, current pulse on trends, platforms, and shifting audience behavior, applied to real creative decisions.

Compensation

  • The budgeted annual salary range for this position is $90,000 - $115,000. Actual annual salary will be determined based on qualifications, skills, experience, and level assessed during the hiring process and may fall outside of the range shown. Additional compensation for this role may include a bonus. All full-time employees are eligible to participate in Company benefits, described in more detail here.
