Walkaround Program Specialist

We are currently seeking a Walkaround Program Specialist to work as a full-time consultant at a client site in East Hartford. This position is based on a 1-year contract with the potential for extension. This is a dynamic opportunity to make a meaningful impact by driving safety culture and compliance.
As a Walkaround Program Specialist, you will audit, standardize, and manage equipment walkaround processes while supporting TPM initiatives and digital tool implementation to improve operational efficiency, documentation accuracy, and shop floor compliance.
DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES
In this role, you will:
- Audit all manufacturing equipment and validate current A, B, and C criticality classifications; update and recategorize as needed.
- Update, standardize, and replace all walkaround documents for A and B equipment across J and K buildings.
- Ensure strict adherence to document control procedures, including maintaining current revisions in shared systems, posting accurate documentation at machines, and removing obsolete versions from the production floor.
- Verify that walkaround binders are present and properly maintained at each machine, including up-to-date paper copies of required tracking tools.
- Update and install visual management materials, including step-by-step instruction stickers and equipment classification labels (CAT A, B, C).
- Prepare and organize electronic versions of walkaround documentation to support digital system integration.
- Learn and support implementation of the Digital DWA (Digital Walkaround Application) tool, partnering with Digital Transformation (DT) teams to deploy within the HSMC-S environment.
- Conduct time studies in collaboration with Operations and working leads to validate and optimize digital walkaround processes.
- Provide ongoing support to the Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) program, contributing to continuous improvement and standardization initiatives.
SKILLS/EXPERIENCE
Minimum Skills and Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Operations, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- 3–6 years of experience in manufacturing, industrial operations, or continuous improvement environments.
- Working knowledge of TPM, Lean Manufacturing, or similar methodologies.
- Experience with document control and maintaining revision-controlled work instructions.
- Ability to conduct time studies and analyze processes to support operational improvements.
- Strong attention to detail with a focus on standardization, accuracy, and compliance.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and managing digital documentation.
- Strong organizational, problem-solving, and project coordination skills.
- Effective communication skills with the ability to collaborate cross-functionally.
- Self-motivated and able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience supporting or implementing digital manufacturing tools or shop floor applications.
- Familiarity with equipment criticality classifications (e.g., A/B/C systems).
- Experience working in aerospace, defense, or other highly regulated manufacturing environments.
- Exposure to visual management systems (labels, standard work displays, point-of-use documentation).
- Knowledge of CMMS, MES, or other manufacturing systems.
