Sustainability Specialist

The Sustainability Specialist is responsible for leading the Company in data-driven decision making and will serve as an expert in data collection techniques, database management, and PowerBI. The Sustainability Specialist will report to the Sr. Manager of Sustainability and will:
Responsibilities

Serve as the Sustainability team data lead
- Oversee development of data analytics and written products to disseminate and communicate the results to multiple audiences
- Create visual reports and dashboards.
- Manage, measure, report, optimize the effectiveness of sustainability initiatives
- Evaluate, devise and propose improvements to current methodologies
- Drive innovation on evolving space of data analytics and Sustainability, seek self-improvement and professional development, apply new concepts to work at Enviva
Lead multi-functional collaboration
- Support Certifications/Regulatory compliance
- Improve Sustainability data accessibility and use
- Support Community Engagement efforts
- Assist teams across the enterprise with data requests
- Partner with our Fiber team of procurement specialists
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in forestry, environmental science, or forest economics, or other natural sciences degree with experience in the former
- Familiarity with forestry and/ or forest ecology in the US, especially in the US South
- Strong analytical and technical skills, and experienced in Microsoft Excel, PowerBI, DAX coding
- Detail oriented
- Strong strategy acumen, attention to detail
- Ability to manage multiple projects under shifting deadlines and priorities
- Sound judgment, strong problem-solving skills and experience working on teams
- Strong communications and interpersonal skills
Preferred Qualifications - What Will Set You Apart
- Master’s degree in forestry, environmental science, forest economics, or other natural sciences
- A minimum of 3 years’ experience with data analytics with specific experience with GIS and remote sensing methodologies, Forest Inventory and Analysis data, and economic modeling methods
- Familiarity with forest certification, biomass certifications, and GHG accounting
- Familiarity with GIS, SQL, and database management
- Demonstrated project management skills
- Familiarity with other computer languages (Python, R, Arcade, etc.)
- Ability to travel approximately 25% of the time
Travel requirements
- Anticipated travel is minimal and no more than once a quarter.
