Wood Procurement (Fiber) Intern - 2026 Summer

About the position
The Wood Procurement Intern at Enviva will support the Wood Procurement team during the summer of 2026. This internship is designed for students majoring in Forestry, providing hands-on experience in wood procurement processes, including purchasing fiber to support pellet production and integration of fiber into the pellet production process. The intern will work closely with a mentor to develop skills in communication, problem-solving, and project management while participating in various intern activities, field visits, and plant/site operations.
Project Overview
This internship’s potential projects will have a focus on the process improvements of wood receiving & inwood chipping capacities of multiple facilities within our manufacturing sites in Southern VA & throughout NC. Additional projects may be assigned based on company need & 2026 wood procurement goals.
Responsibilities
- Work alongside assigned mentor to grow and learn in the Wood Procurement field
- Complete assessment of specified fiber procurement project area (fiber reception or chipping capacity)
- Engage with Fiber team members and Operations to understand
- Effectively communicate with cross-functional team and stakeholder
- Participate in intern activities, volunteer opportunities, and field trips, as scheduled
- Provide recommendations and tangible actions that will be most financially beneficial fiber to Enviva’s/Plant’s respective overall P&L
Requirements
- Must be a rising junior or senior majoring in Forestry
- Good communicator in both written and verbal formats, with a positive attitude
- Ability to work independently and within a team setting
- Self-sufficient, results-driven, and quick learner with keen attention to detail
- Good analytic and problem-solving skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)
