Legal Assistant

Enviva is seeking an organized and professional Legal Assistant to provide administrative support to the Chief Legal Officer and broader Legal team. This role will help ensure effective coordination and execution of administrative activities, including calendar management, meeting coordination, travel arrangements, quarterly Board Meetings, correspondence, and other administrative priorities.
Responsibilities
- Provide administrative and office support to the EVP, Chief Legal Officer & Secretary, including calendar management; meeting coordination; arranging domestic travel; preparing and processing expense reports; preparing, reviewing, and editing documents such as letters, contracts, spreadsheets, and presentations; and maintaining organized electronic filing systems.
- Proactively manage the Chief Legal Officer’s schedule and serve as a gatekeeper, coordinating priorities and ensuring appropriate meeting coverage and support.
- Manage the shared Legal Department inbox and calendar, including scheduling and coordinating Board meetings, monthly accrual meetings, and other Legal Department meetings and activities.
- Manage intake of confidentiality agreement requests, including adapting agreement templates to the requested purpose, routing agreements to the appropriate reviewers, performing counterparty background checks, and liaising with commercial requesters throughout Enviva.
- Manage the Legal invoice and accrual process, including monitoring the Legal invoices inbox; coding and tracking invoices; maintaining related spreadsheets and electronic files; coordinating attorney review and approval; preparing approval summaries; submitting approved invoices to Accounts Payable; and supporting the monthly Legal expense accrual process.
- Review Legal invoices for confidential or sensitive information and ensure appropriate redactions are completed before invoices are provided to other internal or external parties. Maintain unredacted invoices in a secure, separate location.
- Assist the Corporate Governance team with quarterly Board of Directors meetings, including preparing presentation materials, coordinating travel arrangements, and providing other administrative support as needed.
- Track and manage contract renewals, state corporate filings, and other recurring legal and compliance deadlines, coordinating with responsible stakeholders to ensure timely completion.
- Assist with special projects, including creating presentations, conducting research, coordinating Legal Team events, and supporting other departmental initiatives as needed.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field such as Legal Studies, Business Administration, or a related discipline preferred.
- Minimum of 1-year of administrative experience. Preferred administrative experience supporting a legal or contracts team.
- Highly organized with exceptional attention to detail
- Demonstrated proficiency using generative AI and other advanced technologies to enhance productivity, streamline administrative processes, synthesize information, draft communications, manage workflows, and increase team effectiveness, while exercising sound judgment regarding confidentiality, accuracy, and data security.
- Possess strong oral and written communication skills.
- Able to work both independently and as part of a collaborative team, juggle multiple projects, and assume additional responsibilities over time.
- Demonstrate sound judgment and ability to reach decisions independently.

Working Conditions
- This role follows a hybrid schedule. Four days of in-office work per week will be expected during the initial onboarding and integration period, transitioning to a hybrid schedule of 2–3 days in-office per week once sufficiently integrated into the role.
- Schedule flexibility is required to accommodate occasional early mornings, later evenings, and ad hoc in-office needs, particularly around quarterly Board meetings and other key business events
Physical Requirements
- Primarily computer-based work requiring extended periods of sitting and/or standing at a computer and typing.
- May also include standing, walking, carrying, or lifting (up to 50 lbs.) in support of team tasks.

The final pay offered to a successful candidate will be dependent on several factors that may include but are not limited to the type and years of experience within the job, the type of years and experience within the industry, education, training, etc.
Salary Range
$70,000 - $90,000 USD
This position is not eligible for visa support.
