About Epic School Plus

Epic is the world's largest digital library for kids. Epic School Plus is the paid school and district version of Epic. It gives schools and districts administrator visibility through the Admin Portal, 24/7 and year-round access to 40,000+ books (including offline reading), more than 3,500 Spanish, Mandarin and French titles, and decodables for beginning readers aligned to 23 popular literacy curricula, including CKLA, UFLI and Benchmark Advance. When a district funds access, every family gets the same library at no cost to families.

Over one million teachers already use Epic School (free version) in their classrooms. Your job is to help the schools and districts behind them make Epic School Plus part of their reading plan.

About the Role

As a District Sales Specialist, you'll serve as one of the first points of contact for schools and districts interested in Epic School Plus. The role involves leading discovery calls and product walkthroughs with principals, curriculum and literacy directors, instructional coaches, and librarians, while following up on larger district opportunities to help move them through the district budget cycle.

This position works closely with our operations team, which handles quotes and provisioning, as well as our sales lead for the Northeast and Midwest.

This is a part-time contract role, working 20 to 30 hours per week, with approximately 25 to 30 hours a week from January through May, when districts plan budgets and approve purchases, and 20 to 25 hours a week from June through December.

What You'll Do

  • Run discovery calls and walkthroughs (about half your time): respond quickly to schools and districts that ask for a call, learn who champions, who builds the case and who signs, and show how Epic School Plus fits their reading goals.

  • Follow up on larger district opportunities (about a third of your time): re-engage open opportunities, find the decision-makers, keep stages and close dates accurate, and close out opportunities that aren't moving.

  • Keep the talk track sharp: maintain our discovery script, walkthrough and objection guide, and share what you hear from educators so our marketing and product teams can act on it.

  • Keep the CRM clean: log every call, contact and next step in Salesforce so the team can see what's happening in each account.

What You'll Bring

  • Experience in B2B sales, preferably within EdTech or the K–12 education industry.

  • Confidence leading video calls with school and district leaders.

  • Clear, warm writing for follow-up emails and notes.

  • Working knowledge of how districts buy: budget planning, board approvals and purchase orders.

  • Hands-on experience using Salesforce to manage sales activities and track opportunities.

  • Availability during Eastern or Central business hours, with flexibility to work more hours in spring.

  • Willingness to travel approximately 10% of the time for conferences and other events.

Nice to Have

  • Previous experience as a teacher or librarian.

  • Familiarity with Clever and ClassLink rostering.

  • Bilingual proficiency.

Compensation

$30 to $40 per hour.
