Senior Software Development Engineer in Test

What we’re hiring for:  

We are a growing fintech organization looking to add a Senior Software Development Engineer in Test for our Global IT Operations team based in Austin, Texas!  

What you’ll be responsible for in this role:  

  • Leading testing effort in the payments, card issuing and revolving credit domain. 
  • Reviewing requirements, specifications, and technical design documents to provide timely and meaningful feedback. 
  • Creating detailed, comprehensive, and well-structured test plans and test cases. 
  • Planning and coordinating testing activities, preparing reports to communicate outcomes of quality assurance activities. 
  • Preparing quality assurance policies and procedures 
  • Designing, developing, and executing automation code. 
  • Identifying, recording, documenting, and tracking bugs. 
  • Performing thorough regression testing when bugs are resolved. 
  • Developing and applying testing processes for new and existing products. 
  • Tracking quality assurance metrics and statistics. 
  • Staying up to date with new testing tools, diverse types of test strategies, and assuring ongoing compliance with quality and industry regulatory requirements. 
  • Communicating technical information, both written and verbal, effectively to other team members and customers of varying technical experience. 
  • Working collaboratively with other team members, teams and customers on projects, and other similar or related tasks.
  • This is not an exhaustive list, and your duties and responsibilities will also include any incidental and administrative duties as are reasonably required or reasonably desirable for the performance of the duties and responsibilities set out above. 

What experiences and skills are necessary to be successful in this role:  

  • Proven domain knowledge and experience in testing within the payments and card industry. Proficiency in various testing methodologies, tools, and techniques specific to this domain. 
  • Familiarity with regulatory standards and industry-specific protocols. 
  • Ability and willingness to delve into unfamiliar domains, rapidly acquiring necessary expertise for effective testing. 
  • Previous experience in backend Java enterprise software system testing. 
  • Proficiency in the Java programming language and JUnit test framework. 
  • Previous experience in automating API (REST) testing. 
  • Experience working with CI/CD pipeline using Jenkins or other CI/CD platforms. 
  • Proven record with large complex projects and SDLC processes. 
  • Experience working with RDBMS and NoSQL Databases such as MySQL and Cassandra. Ability to write, execute, and debug SQL queries to perform database testing and validation. 
  • Great problem solving and decision-making skills; strong attention for detail to ensure comprehensive test planning. 
  • Ability to read, write, listen, and speak English with at least business fluency.
